I would like to switch to Drop D on the fly. . Anyone have experience with the Hipshot Guitar Extender? I have Ibanez with an Edge-Zero II bridge so the EVH device will not work and the Ibanez Downshifter is no longer available. |

| Nothing short of a robotic auto-tuning device will work on a free float trem unless you lock the bridge from floating. Your best bet is to just get a second guitar and keep it tuned in Drop D. |

Thanks. @cgrant26 Simple answer is dropping the tension of one string in the system changes the pitch of the other strings with a floating trem system. The robotic systems people are talking about modify the counter-tension on the bridge side in real time to balance the change in tension across all strings. |

It gets expensive, cause every time you want to go back and forth, you need another roadie and another guitar on standby. |
