Great layout, 7000 yards from the tips, and it’s always in good shape. There are obviously nicer courses here, but you’ll pay for it. Falcon Dunes at Luke AFB is good if you’re current/former military or first responder. Got to play Falcon once and it was outstanding ! Aguila has been on my list for some time, hopefully we can hit it this coming spring or summer but we don’t get up to Phoenix that often anymore. One of my favorites in Tucson is Sewailo at casino del sol, great track. |

Even if you have PGA tour speed, you won't have the PGA strike averages and the lost distance won't matter in relation to the spin from a slight mishit your adding to the ball. Plus slower swing speeds shouldn't be playing Tour balls. They generally hinder your performance since you don't have the speed to compress then properly. So ball roll back means nothing to us. IMO. The pisser is that we know how to keep pros in check, and we saw this at Arnie's Place yesterday: grow the rough, speed up the greens, narrow the fairways, (and while we're at it, soften them to something less than concrete, so 60 yards of roll on a drive isn't a thing anymore), and let the guys play. If they want to bomb, they'd better be accurate. The Tour hates that because they like televising lots of birdies, and marketing guys who drive it 350+. The players hate those kinds of conditions, because they often look like ass when trying to, e.g. advance a ball out of heavy rough. It's mentally challenging to play those kinds of courses. And Augusta will never do that as far as the fairways and rough goes. Anyway, that's why the rollback's a bad idea, argued often by the USGA and R&A in bad faith. |

The courses I play are typically 6600 to 7000 yards. I end up with a bunch of approach shots in the 60 to 85 yard range. Full shots from 100-120 would probably be better for scoring. It's just hard to keep the driver out of my hands when they're so forgiving. There's always another set of tees up ahead for when I loose more distance. |
