So, in a small miracle here in Montana, it's currently 38 degrees with a 100% clear sky. I mean...the atmospheric river in the PacNW has had it raining here for 2 straight weeks, bridges and roads washing out all over up by Libby, constant cloud cover. The forecast is for one more clear-ish day, then more constant rain and snow. But not tonight. I put the reclining camp chair out in the driveway, added a couple of quilts, put on a wonderful wool hat a friend knitted me, grabbed a glass of wine, and went out to witness the universe. Jupiter, bright as can be. Orion pointing towards Sirius. Taurus plain as day. Six of the seven sisters in the Pleiades visible to my old, crappy eyes. Sat and watched, listening to the river, counted 42 meteors in about as many minutes before a bit of a breeze kicked up out of the NW and started to make it chilly. 42 is a great number, so I called it there and came in. Most were short, swift, and caught out of the peripheral vision. A few were slower, leaving trails longer than from Betelgeuse to Rigel, and clustered down and to the right of the constellation, moving away from the radiant. Pardon my French, but it's been a really fucking shitty year. I needed a night like this pretty bad, and the universe smiled on me. I appreciate it. Anyone else enjoy the show, or see anything unusual, quirky, cool, or interesting? Off to bed with me. I appreciate you all as well. Goodnight.

| It was a COLD and crystal clear night, here. It was also very WINDY, so we didn't last long but I did clearly see one very bright meteor and caught a glimpse of another. My wife had an electric blanket and held out a little longer and saw a third one. |
