| Looking to grab a framing nailer for some projects including finishing the basement that will need a couple walls put in. Im invested in the Makita line for all my others, which, just my luck, Makita never goes on sale. I’ve only ever driven nails by hand so the question is, should I go for the 30 degree or 21 degree. Same cost, im not worried about code with the little non structural stuff I’ll be using it on, any reason to go with one over the other? |

Sure you know but the 30 will fit in tighter spaces but gives up some fastening power vs the 21. If you have the money go airless as they are WAY more convenient to use inside a house and for small projects. I have both and haven’t used the air nailer since I got the airless. Pricier but the convenience was a huge issue to me. No need for a compressor and line being set up before nailing. No line when moving around. Still use an air for roofing as I’m too cheap to buy one for that as I rarely do it. If is basic framing inside a house without having to deal with working around existing walls, plumbing and electrical then either he 30 or the 21 will do imo. |

I guess you want battery powered? I have a Hitachi (now Metabo HPT) and it’s be excellent. Air powered though. Personally, for as little as most of us use framing nailers, I’d spend less and go with air. Works great and costs way less. It’s not a big hassle to have an air hose. But, if you want to stick to one battery system and you want a cordless nailer, then I guess Makita is what you need to look at. |

| I purchased one of the newer DeWalt 21* framing nailers over a year ago. Built a room in the basement, helped a friend with some framing work at his house and my FIL took it to Florida to put together a shed. I think I have had about 5 jams in 2-3 full boxes of nails. 4/5 were funny angles and limp-wristing, 1 was hitting a nail already in the wood. Its been solid for me and having the portability of batteries is very nice. |

https://www.paslode.com/ are the best nailers period. 39 years as a carpenter I wouldn't buy or use anything else. not worth the aggravation! 23gauge brad I'd go with Milwaukee. cheaper and faster to frame metal studs. |

| OP, can I tag along here. Looking at nailers for home use, have close to 600’ of 6’ privacy fence to start replacing. A airless nailer would be nice. Have a couple Makita 18V tools, but mainly M18 stuff. |

Get it back, use in coldish weather starts jamming. Not talking botter cold probably 30 or so. |
