| We've been using Nexgard Plus for our dogs, but it's $35 a month for each dog. Are there better options? What is everyone using? |

I’m gonna throw this out here. We always used heart guard, and it seemed like I often had one of the dogs with occasional seizures. The last time I had a seizure with my big golden he got violent coming out of it. It was pretty bad, I had him trapped in the kitchen bad. Like I had a big D cell mag lite bad and a pistol on bad. So he finally snapped out of it and went back to happy. About 30 minutes of post seizure nasty, and it was bad enough to consider I may have to shoot my own dog. Anyway, I took him off heart guard after that. 2 years ago and no more seizures. I have now taken all my dogs off it. We don’t have much of a mosquito issue here, or ticks. |

Pets Megastore Australia We order from Australia. Takes about 2 weeks to arrive. But it’s way cheaper per dose, even with shipping. I think it has to do with the way the meds are regulated over there. There are several legit Australian retailers that sell these meds online. I just picked the first one that I came across, did some research on their reputation, and went for it. No problems so far. |

Heartworm? I just buy injectable Ivermectin (the active ingredient in Heartgard, Heartgard Plus has less Ivermectin and something else added) and put it on the kibble. I used to use laboratory pipettes to deliver the same dose as Heartgard, but since COVID and the 1cc/100lb human prophylaxis dosages I just put 2-3 drops on the food, the mild overdose never hurt my dog so far. EDIT: that's my dog, not yours, and mine is not a Collie/Sheltie/etc. Ivermectin can mess some dogs up, and the probability increases with certain breeds. Flea/tick, I'm open to suggestions. I used to see nasty stories about Bravecto online, how safe is that stuff? |

Her stools seem to be looser for one day after we dose her with Bravecto but other than that no issues. Heartgard hasn't caused any problems either. She's an Aussie. Probably going to try putting her on Simparica Trio after we use up the current meds, since it protects against worms, ticks, and fleas all in one monthly dose. The Australian stores we order from don't require a prescription so it's easy to switch like that. |

I ordered some NeoVet and it arrived at LAX Wednesday, tracking has said "awaiting clearance" ever since. Since I'm already overdue for September's flea treatment, I'm hoping it gets here soon. |

My AU tracking, frozen in 'awaiting clearance' since Wednesday, updated to 'Arrived at local facility for delivery' and then 'Onboard for delivery' Tuesday morning. Then I belatedly got the idea to paste the AU tracking number into USPS tracking. Now I can see it clearing customs, leaving L.A., and arriving Chicago last week. The US tracking shows processing through Melbourne last week and everything after that, so there's not need to use AUS tracking. Lesson learned: When given AUSPOST tracking numbers, enter them in USPS tracking and ask for text updates if you want to see the daily progress. |

| I also have experience only with Nexgard, and while it has worked well for my dog so far, I’d love to explore some alternatives to see if there’s an even better option out there. That said, one of the things I really appreciate about Nexgard is how convenient it is to use. The fact that I can purchase Nexgard Without Vet Prescription is such a time-saver, especially when life gets busy. It’s nice not having to schedule a vet visit just to restock on flea and tick prevention. This convenience makes managing my dog’s health a lot easier, giving me peace of mind knowing he’s protected without the hassle. Still, I’m open to recommendations if anyone has found a great alternative—they’re always worth considering |
