Yes I know there is a tree in the way, my house is within 2 miles where they launch. The tree blocking the view is a small price to pay for convenience. EXIF: 60mm f4 1/60 ISO 6400 APS-C

| Using 2.8 is to wide. Try between f8 and f11, I usually use around f11. Iso 100 and use bulb mode. Focal length can be what ever you want depending on how much background you like. Start the picture when you hear the firework launch stop when it starts to fade away. You can play around with this I generally like to get the mortar streak going up but you can start later if you don’t want this. |

10 seconds ISO 250 Tried to get the fireworks over the Main Post Chapel. It kind of worked you cant say for sure where the shells will burst till the show starts. For the first attempts at it, I was pretty happy with the results. Did a bit of setting hunting, but stayed in a general area.

With a growing toddler, it's been harder and harder to drag out the equipment to events, so this year I just grabbed my old T2i with a 24mm pancake lens (and a tripod at the last minute). Ended up a bit further back than I planned to be (with the 24mm lens) but it made for a quieter place to be along with a quicker escape route after the show was over.
