After working a few hours this morning in Columbus OH, I decided to head down to a local jeweler in town known to carry a nice variety of Rolexes. Vintage and new. I had been calling around town looking for a Tudor Black Bay 41 “Monochrome”. No luck anywhere. This jeweler said he could probably source me one within a week or so. Cool. After work, running a few errands, I decided to swing by his shop. It was only about 10min away from my hotel and see what he had on the shelf. And there it was. This Submariner 14060. No date. 2 line. Made in 2000. In excellent condition and recently serviced. He put it on the scope in front of me. Running great. Price was good…probably could have picked one up online for a bit cheaper but I had this one in my hands and could inspect it on the spot in person. No surprises. This is pretty much what I had been looking for. Not something brand new and not something old and worn. Right on the edge of vintage lol. Anyway, it will go nicely with my DJ 16030! Thanks guys! Loving it and wearing it everyday lol. I love this ref. I agree with the people who think it’s the “last of the best” Submariners. The slightly smaller case sits and fits me perfect. The only con I have so far is that I like the glide lock clasp better but this ain’t bad at all. |

They have a couple Subs from the 60s in there right now. I don’t remember the Ref numbers on those. They do have two Milgausses, one of them with the green sapphire crystal! That was cool to see. Btw. I took my DJ in with me just to see what they would offer on trade in. They made a totally fair offer and I was tempted but ultimately I want to keep the DJ and just bought the Sub outright. They will negotiate on price a bit also. |
