Updating Your NFRTR After a 4473-Only Transfer August 17, 2026 One question we've heard a lot this past week: "If I transfer a suppressor using a 4473 instead of a Form 4, how do I update the NFRTR?" ATF has confirmed that a process to update the NFRTR through eForms is coming at some point. As soon as that process is available, Silencer Shop will handle the automation for you, so this won't be a manual step on your end. Here's how to get ready now: make sure your Dealer Portal inventory is current. When you sell an item, mark it as Transferred in either My Inventory or Assign Inventory. You'll be asked to select a reason for the transfer, and that reason is what feeds the NFRTR update once the eForms process is live. If the item came from Silencer Shop originally, that reason will already be filled in for you. Keeping your inventory marked correctly now means the NFRTR update will happen automatically and accurately once ATF's process is ready, no extra work required on your part. https://media2.giphy.com/media/10Jpr9KSaXLchW/200.webp?cid=8dc8958cyw16adrkkl1alay72oa118qthge0nxrfa6p95oye&ep=v1_gifs_search&rid=200.webp&ct=g Key phrase "At some point". Knowing the ATF I wouldn't expect it to happen soon. |

It does indeed touch SBR and SBS, but is hamstrung by the AG GCA law which most think can be resolved with a simple administrative change. So yes it’s possible SBS and SBR are soon transferring via FFL because of this injunction. But possible no as well. Bit the ruiing certainly applies to SBR& SBS |

IANAL However, fair enough to say I am expert level in interpreting and implementing federal regs. Fortunately, not in that job anymore. The disconnect between DOJ and ATF has created chaos which will be difficult for them to recover from. There just isn't a process to resolve, because the federal regulation exists. Additionally, Chevron being shot down greatly impacts their ability to interpret and fix the issues. Before anyone whines, this is one of the things the Constitution indeeds. They should be handcuffed if they cannot explicitly act. |

FDR was as evil as they get, but through mass media he had a lot of people brainwashed. This is only a partial list of his treason against America and the Constitution: American Pravda: President Franklin Roosevelt, the Great Depression, and the New Deal Stealing our money through gold confiscation was perhaps even worse that the NFA, SS, getting us into WW2 and astronomical debt, and silencing any voices of reason. Well, technically its not that Drummond refused to charge the OKCPD cop that "killed" 71 year old Lich Vu. Oklahoma County District Attorney Vicki Behenna initially charged Officer Gibson with aggravated assault and battery (Incident was Oct 2024). Later, AG Drummond, shortly after taking over prosecution of the case, dismissed the felony charge (Dec 2024). Vu passed away in Oct 2025. Vu's injuries left him unable to continue his cancer treatments. Refused to charge... dismissed the charges... Not sure which is worse here. ![]() (Initial jurisdiction of the case belonged to Oklahoma County DA's office, not state AG) |
