I’m eyeballing a fantic xef250 dirt bike and I don’t see much about them online. Seems to be more of a Europe thing. The place local to me sells them. I’d hate to get a bike that I can’t fix because of parts or support. If not, I’ll just get a used KTM XC. Thank you. |

The GPX bikes get the nest reviews of the Chinese bikes in this category. https://www.gpxmoto.com/tse250r |

Highland cycles did a review on YT a while back. ETA: that was the 2T review, when they were just available for import. @RandyLahey01 Don't know if they tested other models. And yes it is a yamaha forward design. My buddies kid just got a Yamaha 250x, but I don't think he has ridden it yet. |

These aren’t Chinese, they are Italian but much smaller here in the US. I’ll check out the video for the review. I’m thinking of sticking with the big four as mentioned but it’s hard to pass up on a $5k 250 four stroke new with fuel injection and a wide ratio transmission. |

Used to compete vintage bike observed trials on a 1986 Fantic Motor 240Pro. It was a fantastic bike. Other than it hated to idle and like basically everything not Japanese the brakes went away when the drums got wet. It had gobs of torque. |

Thanks for the help. Considering it’s a four stroke and not well known in the USA, I think I’m going to pass on it. Four strokes are difficult enough to work on, last thing I need is lack of info. On the other side, would a 2020 300XC with 90 hours be considered a good option? I know 90 hours is nearing top end replacement but I don’t know if the TPI and older shocks are THAT big of an issue. I could get it for 5k. Thoughts? |

TPI bikes don't have a great reputation for reliability or performance as they come from the factory. This can be fixed with a high compression head and ECU reflash but I would factor that cost into your negotiations. That said, I don't have any experience with them and explicitly sought out a 2018 300 XC-W for the carb, so maybe it's fine. ![]() The Worst Bike I've Ever Bought... briefly (KTM 300) |

It depends on how it was ridden for those 90 hours. If it was ridden in a reasonable way it might not need anything for quite a while. |

Look for left over KTMs, they had a ton of 2024s and some are still around. I bought one last week as a backup. Last year I bought a left over 2025. In 2024 I bought a left over. In each case I saved over $3K and no BS fees or haggle because they have them at cost to get them gone. I bought all three from different dealers by email then just picked them up. |
