No. It's not a death wish as we understand that. I can understand why people would think that, but it's not. That only applies in the smallest way. Islam lacks assurace of a good outcome after life. They have no good news on that front. What they do have is an idea of a God who can be and sometimes IS merciful but it's wildly arbitrary AND their belief that is real live fatalism pours fuel onto the fire of doubt for them. In islam they don't just believe outcomes are going to happen/will obtain. They believe they are going to happen no matter what anyone does. You could live the perfect islamic life till 5 seconds before you die, screw up, and wind up going to their idea of hell, and absolutely nothing you could do would change that. It isn't even the determinism of "what's planned to happen will happen but it WILL happen because people making the choices they want to will make it happen." To my limited knowledge the closest thing they have to assurance of going to paradise is dying in jihad for islam. And, strictly speaking, not by their own hand. Apparently there is a real and live theological fight in islam where the more text-following muslims land on the side of "no suicide, fight till you get killed." This is why you can have two NHS doctors, who lived a good life and otherwise had no reasons to do it drive a (iirc) jeep full of fuel into an airport in the uk and set it off. |

Ron DeSantis announced his intent to use a new law to label the organization and various other groups as “domestic terrorist organizations.” The suit filed late Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida in Tallahassee contends DeSantis is violating the First Amendment and the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The lawsuit states CAIR and CAIR-Florida would face “irreparable harm” in their nonprofit advocacy in the state and the statement denies CAIR engages in terrorist activity. The suit was filed by the Southern Poverty Law Center, American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU of Florida, Akeel & Valentine, PLC, and Bondurant Mixson & Ellmore LLP. In addition to DeSantis, named defendants include the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Executive Director Mark Glass, members of the Cabinet and the 20 district state attorneys. Glass in his role as Florida’s chief of domestic security is directed under the new law to make recommendations on naming groups as terrorist organizations. DeSantis and the Cabinet — Attorney General James Uthmeier, Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson — have to sign off on the recommendations that DeSantis announced his support for last Wednesday. In addition to CAIR, the designations are recommended for the Muslim Brotherhood and the anti-fascism movement known as antifa. |
