Ignore ethics for a bit, look at common sense. Why is she his "ex"? If itstbecause of something she did to him, she'll do the same to you. That said, be prepared to lose a friend. She's his ex because whatever the reason, it was best she no longer be in his life. If you hit it off with her, spending time with you means he spends time with or near her. |

| I wouldn't if you want to remain friends. Have one of those going on right now in a divorce over relatively little money that's now going to cost 4x what they're fighting about. I stayed out of it but the wife picked sides and that kind of forced my hand so now I don't get to hang out with that group anymore. She probably would have dated anyone in the orbit including me if weren't married lol. She couch surfed at our place for a long while even though she's worth 7 figures but is one of those people who really needs someone to tether her down because of her mental state. Fun times. Thankfully she's fundamentally a good person so the wife and I have been happy to help. |
| It's worth adding this in also. Knowing how a woman's mind works its possible the ex-wife would be using O.P. for " revenge sex " to get back at her ex-husband and make his life even more miserable |

I simply cannot imagine dating or banging someone from work. There was a manager that was dating one of his direct reports where I work, they started seeing each other while he was married and his wife worked at the same company at the time. That manager and his direct report were caught having sex in one of the labs after hours when they thought no one would be around.. There are many, many beautiful women where I work, some have clearly shown an interest in me but I can't imagine following up on any of that. It just simply isn't worth losing your career over. |

Generalize, if mom is no longer living or someone was adopted that is irrelevant to my point... Imagine you are a teen living at home with your divorced mom. Your mom dates men that ain't your dad. If your 18 year old "friend" banged your mom you might not like it, that might damage your friendship. Your "friends" EX is the mom in this situation and despite that other people may bang mom (his ex) it might piss him off if someone he considers a "friend" does it. Trying to use an analogy as to why the "friend" might care. |

If he'd approached me and said "hey man I want to pursue your ex" I'd have been like "yeah man go for it! Get me outta spousal support!" But the quickness of it and the lack of any discussion with me just felt disrespectful. Like I realize she's not my woman anymore, but give me the opportunity to be gracious here. We are no longer friends. I'm unsure if they ever hooked up. |

Instead of a challenge though, group date night. Someone floats the idea and sees if everyone is cool with it. |

I think many of us can think back to moments we have regret about, do those moments define our future? |
