In the 1970s, "Chariots of the Gods" and "In Search Of..." were the only choices for new content for those trying to figure out the "information hole" we are still bumping into. Today, that hole is far better defined and we know a shitload more about the fuzzy borders around it, and Disclosure telling us what the majority of that hole really is, seems imminent. The problem is, he tried to take an idea and paint the whole world with his idea and fit all theories from Nazca lines to pyramids and stonehenge into a single answer of "aliens did it". The books were the first exposure to the Nazca lines even existing. The smaller encyclopedias didn't mention them, and the large encyclopedia sets at the library barely mentioned them beyond them existing and method and purpose unknown. There was so much stuff we didn't know simply because it either wasn't in the books in the library at all, or it was but nobody knew what name or topic to even ask for to see it. The extent we had of paranormal was the whole "crystal pyramid power" type and Uri Geller followed by talk show hosts explaining that Uri Gellar was a fraud and there's no other aspect of this world, just trust the news and their shows for information. Uri was using magic tricks for some stuff (maybe to discredit himself?), but was also now seen to have worked with the CIA in their paranormal programs for years instead of just a demonstration and being booted out, something nobody in the 1970s would ever mention. In that sort of world, the book was labeled heresy to keep younger people from reading it in order to prevent even the concepts and names of things to look for to occur. It was more mind fuckery information lockdown and we can see it in this thread where our parents wouldn't let us get a copy so we had to go to the library and check it out and speed read it and return it. While the book missed the mark on many points, it is still a picture perfect example of information control and essentially the mind control they said the Russians might try, while they were doing it to us right out in the open. Even today some people refuse to believe our own government was engaged in mind control against the entire population, while it was recently admitted that was the norm for decades and decades and is still going on. Remember all the news anchors crying and freaking out when Trump won in 2016? The open admission "Trump is changing what people think, that's bad because that is our job!" That was in 2016 right after the election and the sentiment was mentioned from many. Trump circumvented the media control of information by flying to cities across the nation and telling us exactly how the media was fucking us over like that and kept doing rally after rally after rally, while the media was telling people he was lying. Remember GD when Trump was running? It was a bloodbath if somebody openly supported Trump because so many were enthralled by the Television. Von Daniken was kind of a Trump for the paranormal topics back in the 1970s. |
