Beginning in the summer of 2025, thousands of St George flags have appeared in towns and cities across England, with individuals and groups behind them saying they wanted to celebrate patriotism. Bristol City Council said it has spent about 50,000 on removing flags across the city, but explained the figure does not include the amount of time allocated to officers to conduct site visits, administration and respond to enquiries. The city council is now considering taking a similar approach to Oxfordshire County Council in obtaining a High Court injunction which will prohibit flags on public furniture. If approved, any person breaching the order could face prison, a fine or having their assets seized. |

The national flag situation in Europe seems odd to Americans. We were in France a few years ago as part of a tour group and as we traveled around the country I noticed that only government buildings had flags flying. Post offices, city halls, courthouses, etc. No private residences or buildings had a flag. I asked the tour guide about it and she said Europe has a long history of wars among themselves. So a private person or business displaying the national flag is seen as a sign of aggression/nationalism. Yes, patriotism is seen as provocative there

| I watched some You Tube videos of Brits and Europeans that visited the US for the soccer World Cup. Many of them were amazed at the number of American flags displayed everywhere they went. They were amazed at our patriotism, and a lot of other things. I think some of them may have been corrupted by our freedom and our Americanism. |

When I lived in a suburb of Minneapolis, I forced the extreme lefty city I lived in to fly the POW/MIA flag the week of Memorial Day, 4th of July and Veteran’s Day. I also forced them to limit the pride flag to 1 week in June (they previously flew it the entire month of June). Their own rules stated that “special interest” flags could fly for one week during the month an appropriate holiday occurred provided an individual or organization made a written request no less than 30 days in advance. Of course, I’m also the reason they deleted the general public comment period at council meetings in favor of a pre-meeting “listening session” that wasn’t recorded and couldn’t be used as propaganda against their extremism. They absolutely hated me, but things like that are how you beat them at their own game. They probably threw a party when my house went on the market. |

They think that will put an end to the cycle of European wars. They entirely underestimate Islam. Outside of big cities, on rural country routes, you still see the battle flag often enough. Sometimes you can see a first national flying. All on private property of course. But a lot of times that's still at the roadside. |
