They are actually very nice, there are multiple vents, zips and ports/options you can wear it. I would compare it to being outside on a very hot, windy day under a nice shady tent when configured for heat. The only time I get warm and sweaty is when I quit rolling. I ride more in the cold than I do the heat in my climate however. It excels at the cold too, you can cinch it down, add a baklava under the helmet, gauntlet gloves, and no icy air can reach your skin. They offer different versions for different climates and they also offer different armor levels. I added a back protector to mine. It has all the mounting points built in already. I have 130k on my current one, and other than some slight fading and a few road grime stains (fucking chip seal) all I had to do is replace a zipper. It's an incredible value just on how quality/well made and long lasting they are. My favorite part... I can dress normally/comfortably, whether commuting to work or on vacation. |

I did that about 5 times a couple weeks back, first trip to off road trails. One was in the middle of a mud hole with a good bit of standing water. Of course, my boots kept slipping when I went to pick the bike up and I would fall back down. I was basically wallowing around in this mud puddle for a bit. Stupidest was being tired at the end of the day at a trail intersection on the side of a hill. I'm short, my bike is tall. I was slowing and trying to decide which way to go and I started to tip left as I came to an almost stop. Went to put my foot down on the downhill side and there was noting there. Went crashing down in a bunch of rocks. At this point, I was glad I had worn all the off road armor I felt silly for putting on. Then I struggled to mount the bike since the seat was at about shoulder height standing on the downhill side. Couldn't really hold it up and walk around it and couldnt bring myself to tip it over the other way so I could pick it back up and get on. Ended up walking the thing to a place I could get on. I definitely looked around to see if anyone was watching. Thankfully I pretty much had the woods to myself. The others were all mostly the result of stalls/flamemouts. |

It's a weird thing... I bought my first car at 16 and I remember being invincible. I'd go anywhere, do anything, drive for hours, just to get out of the house and out on the road. Now, when I get out on the bike I'm paranoid about every other driver on the road. I wish I could see in all directions at once. The idea that I've only been riding for three months is first and foremost in my mind anytime I'm in motion. I definitely need more practice. |

When got back to house she reminded me right quick to buy another bike since I traded mine off several months back for a shaggin wagon camping van.
