| Who has one and what brand/model do you have? We ride regular pedal Trek bikes but would like cover more tral than the few miles us old folks can do on a Sunday afternoon. Been looking at Lectric brand. Treks are pricey but maybe theyre worth it. |

Mine is a Cannondale. It's pedal-assist class 3. It uses a Bosch motor and system that has three configurable settings, from minimum, to maximum assist. We can also download other settings, in case you want a more versatile mode for gravel trails, mountain biking, towing, etc. Or, just switch off, but then you have a heavy bicycle to move around. I reached around 80 miles in the minimum-assist mode, which is more than enough for flat trails with little slopes. Of course, you can switch between the modes while pedaling. Last year alone I rode around 3,000 miles on it. |

I've had the Lectric Peak for two years now and its been solid on rough country roads and light trail use. I can get I think 20 + miles out of a full charge running at top speed and no pedal assist. This however will vary by terrain. With pedal assist I can 40 ish , again terrain and your weight will impact that. Wife wants one for next year so I will look at Lectric again and maybe a few others. |

It depends on how much you want to spend. These are always good choices. Everything decent these days is over $2k. Usually right around the $3k mark is where most of the high quality performance bikes start. These are considered power performance bikes below. There's also Aventon, Velotric, Ride1Up to look at. I've never seen a Lectric brand bike where the brakes were even close to being set up correctly. Also should have a quick look at the bearings while there. |

People are always complaining about their brakes rubbing and don't know how to align the calipers properly when they first set up their bikes. They sell brake pad shims on Amazon to make alignment easy. Just loosen the caliper, install the shims, tighten caliper bolts then pull the shims out and viola the brake pads no longer rub. Most bikes will have squeaky brakes. Best way to quiet them down is replace with the organic pads and the squeaky sound will go away. |

Had it for about 1.5 years now. My Velotric is much nicer than my wifes Lectric Xpress 750 and was only a couple hundred bucks more. Eta- isn't NY cracking down big time on ebikes? Honestly I think a crazy down might be good. They are all over our paved trails and they fly. In city streets they weave in and out of traffic. On the other hand I hate gov regulating things. |

Attached File Strictly to get the blood flowing following shoulder surgery. Walking around the neighborhood is boring as hell. I haven't even ridden it yet- still in a sling and I start range of motion physical therapy in two weeks. But since I can't keep anything stock I replaced the pedals with some Crank Brothers offerings and I put a longer suspension seat post on. I also took a vibration-dampening phone mount from one of my motorcycles. That's it. I swear. Ortlieb bag on the back has a 10,000mAH power bank and a thicc bike lock. A packable rain jacket will join them- this is Houston after all. |

Attached File its a class 3. i added a thumb throttle to it, a little safer at low speeds than trying to get the right gear and using the torque sense pedal assist up my steep driveway and launching myself into the truck when its parked by the house. so once you get rolling it will do throttle to 20mph and then pedal assist to 28mph. |

What kind of riding? Mostly gravel and easy trails, rail trails, etc or more MTB type riding? I have a Husqvarna HC4. It's got a Shimano EP8 motor, Fox38 fork, FloatX rear shock, dropper, and a GX Eagle 12 speed drivetrain. I mostly just trail ride and do light technical trails, so the 180/170mm travel on this bike is a bit overkill, bit its nice to just monster truck over everything. The EP8 is probably the worst of the mainstream motors, but its been just fine for my uses. My longest ride was 19 miles, and that was in boost mode(battery sucking) so I could keep up with my buddy who rides multiple days a week on his Levo in Eco mode. If I rode in eco mode im sure you could get upwards of 40 miles on a charge. Wife has a Yamaha YDX Moro 05. It's really nice too, but the Rockshox suspension isn't as plush as the Fox. The motor isn't quite as seamless as the Shimano, but its more powerful and reliable, and the bike has a smaller battery. But she is half my weight so she gets much much further on a charge
