I seem to get these and end up having to replace it 2 or 3 years later. Does anyone actually make a product that lasts. frustrating to keep having to replace them. My current is a newair 250. Newair 250 humidor Is there any brands that we know are good and are more reliable its weird it seems like the reviews for all of them are bad.. Even the schmecke which i thought where real good ones... |

I've done quite a bit of reading on these machines. I really, really want one. I would need one that holds at least 2k, which makes it the size of a decent refrigerator. Our current house was bought intentionally small as part of a 3 to 5-year plan to get in a better economic standing. Square footage and room size is the limiting factor for me. It just takes up less space to run a bunch of tupperdors on the shelf. If I were going to pull the trigger and purchase what I want, it would be a Raching, Redford, or maybe a Yohtron. Mostly in that order. I've never actually seen any one of the three in person, but after reading and lusting for a giant thermoelectric unit for the last 3 or 4 years, I think that's where I would go. And the Raching would probably just be for the visual. They are really nice looking to me. If we're being honest, they really are just a refrigerator without the refrigerator guts. If you find an old wine cooler or glass door fridge that you like. The fan, the humidifier, the control unit, and the lights can all be pieced together to your preferences for a lot less than just ordering one of these units. If you're handy and you stalk marketplace for a while, you'd probably find a wine fridge that was a good starting point for you. Hell, I passed one on the side of the road last summer somebody had ditched rather than dispose of it appropriately. It was going to be perfect until I turned it over and found a massive bash on the corner where it probably hit the ground coming out of the truck. It had cedar wine racks inside, the door in the glass was still intact. I was going to bring it home and stick it in the garage until I got around to it. |
