Dumb things seen on the road. (Page 1 of 3)

Today, I pulled out of our local Walmart. Heading West on a 4 lane, divided highway. Speed limit is 55. I get in the fast lane, get up to 55 and the guy in the slow lane pulls in front of me , to avoid hitting a car in the slow lane. He then proceeds to stay directly beside the car he almost rear ended, at 45 mph. Did this for about a mile. The car in the slow lane pulls off the highway and a school bus pulls out into the slow lane. Car in front of me slows to 35 in a 55. Refuses to pass the bus. The bus then turns it's yellow lights on and starts to slow down. The car slows down and puts a little distance between its front bumper and the back of the bus. The bus's red lights start flashing and it comes to a stop. The car then turns its left blinker on. Goes in the center lane, comes close to side swiping another bus, stopped with its lights on, going the opposite direction, then turns his right blinker on and comes back into the fast lane of original travel ... Times I wish I had a dash cam..... What dumb things have you seen today. Other than me writing a terrible paragraph? |

15 years ago I moved to a rural area from the DC region. Lots of folks here go 10MPH under the limit. I've learned to not worry about it...it still beats walking. I just leave extra time if I'm on a schedule. I do get frustrated when I drive the 2 lane interstate once a month for an appointment about 30 miles away. Much the same shit as the OP stated...someone comes barreling up my ass, I pull over to let them go by, and they match my speed and block me in. Half these fuckers don't want to go faster than the guy in front of them...they just don't like there being any cars in front of them. Then there's the idiots who are afraid to pass the 18 wheelers, so they slow down and cruise in the most dangerous spot they can. On the drive back home I take the back roads. |

Like what, something other than calling the "passing lane" the "fast lane?" I'm just finishing a 6000-mile road trip over the last 3 weeks. I could write a fucking book about the stupidity I've seen. |

| I almost murdered a deer today. On the road at 60mph clip, a buck comes into the road. I've got a log truck behind me and in the oncoming lane is a pickup truck. I only had one option which was to swerve right, I'm not quite sure how the deer didn't get tagged but when I looked at my drivers side mirror I saw him bound back into the woods from whence he came. |

| A trooper almost clipped me while he was making an unsafe lane change. I have it on dashcam, front and rear. Just a couple days ago. He didn't have overheads on and I thought it was just another asshole until he passed and I saw his rear lights. It was a close one. |

This Am at 0330 I was headed into town I live 30 miles out on a 2 lane county road thats getting alot more busy since most of California has moved here... I was driving my 2014 Ford police interceptor Utility (explorer, its running twin turbo 3.5 at over 400 HP 6 speed trans and AWD was a totally un marked Nevada HWP with governor protection unit in prior life) when this VW mini bus goes by with no lights on.... old school hippy bus I instinctively started to spin around.................. then remembered I left AZ DPS 15 years ago hadn't seeen a deputy all the way in... figured he was trying to sneak home thinking nobody would notice a cheech and chongs mini bus at 0330 in the morning........... |

Wow the more I look at it the worse it gets. |
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

| Driving into work on the very busy these days used to be country road. Clicking along at the limit plus our minus a couple with the hills and turns with a guy just fuming behind me. We get to the long straight bit and he goes for the absolute rage pass, base model v6 screaming, cool no problem you do you. He then promptly starts to bumper hump the guy 75ft in front of me. What's the point in passing when you can see you're only one car farther up in the group of people all going the same speed? We all ended up at the same light anyway. |

Now on Route 128 during commuting hours the breakdown lane becomes the fast lane

I was driving into work a couple of days ago. I caught up to a car doing the speed limit. That's fine. His choice. I usually have my cruise control set to 9 mph over, so when I approached him, I just moved over, passed him, and kept going. I guess he figured this was an insult or something, because he floored it, passed me at about 20 over, and then matched my speed all the way to my exit. He must have been one of those drivers that just can't handle having anyone pass them. |
Don't piss off old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

Hazards on in the rain is a standard stupid now but one up that by splitting the lanes on a 4 lane so nobody else can pass. |

If they all wanna sit at a 4 way looking stupid face at each other I just go. |

Commuting at roughly the same time meant you often saw the same people. Women doing mascara always made me shudder. People eating soup, or oatmeal. One guy had drumsticks and practiced on his steering wheel constantly. The folks driving manual with coffee and a cigarette were talented. I used to have a local map draped over the dash to find side roads when traffic sucked more than usual. |

I recently read a statistic that approximately 15% of Americans are estimated to have an IQ of 85 or less. So when you see people on the road driving like that and you rhetorically ask yourself, "are they fucking retarded," chances are they are on of the 51 million Americans that fall into this low IQ category. |

| I'm new to the south east and am absolutely shocked at how retarded people drive. I've seen people STOP on a freeway onramp because they have no clue how to merge. This happened pretty regularly. I see people stop in the middle of a roundabout pretty often too. Apparently people struggle with the concept of a "yield" sign. |

I have been driving often an hour per day on highways and byways for decades, in New England, California, Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic. No one has ever hit me. Although they do try sometimes. In my experience, the system works. "System" = balance between my behavior, others' behavior, and the work of road engineers, auto engineers, and regulators. Knock on wood. |

God forbid people put down the damn phone and drive. "Infotainment" ![]() No, the info and tainment is the road, focus on driving. Attached File Attached File |
