In the 80s/90s, we had 5 Rottweilers that occasionally got overwhelmed with fleas. We hit them with a flea dip. It was a milky white solution that absolutely nuked them.

My current gsd is covered up. Advantage, spraying the yard,  frequent baths....ineffective.  

My neighbors love the million tree rats that prefer my trees. I can't kill them and trapping wouldn't be ideal.

My poor girl is starting to lose hair over it.

I don't  think they make it anymore. Kinda like a cree-soat mixture, like they put on telephone poles.

.  Not sure it exists anymore.  You could try livestock dip with a higher dilution, but that's mainly for ticks.

Hey, two things, might want to check liver function, (Dr .Karen Becker) and Wondercide makes products that will not poison your dog. I used Frontline on one of mine and every time it was time to apply of the three dogs she would go under the table to avoid. Well anyway Frontline attacks the nervous system of fleas and that was what happened to Rosie $4k later she died from swollen brain right above where you apply the Frontline. Vets only care about pushing crap on your dog cause it helps them make money, this vet was a Cornell Vet school grad. A good vet is Dr. Marty Goldstein.

You peddle so much anti-vet rhetoric on this forum that its exhausting; just stop.  


I'd love to see the necropsy report that says the dog died from Frontline use.  Hah.  And I definitely use the same products on my own pets that I recommend but I guess it's just to make money.  Make sure to lump every member of a profession into a group and then call them uneducated money grabbers.

Why not just get some Simparica Trio or one of the other great products for fleas, ticks, heartworms, etc. or at least get a Seresto collar.

Permethrin is an option I think and sounds like you describe but will kill cats available at Amazon or Tractor Supply. It's the same stuff that Harmonic_Distortion recommended hunters and the military sprays clothing with it.

It is literally a 'poison' that is designed to kill the fleas.

A poison that goes through the dog...


Not saying I have never used products like this (cause I sho as shit HAVE) but unless things are really, really bad out of control I prefer to use stuff that my fido does not have to ingest.

Fleas are a bitch. You can be doing everything right with your animals and then your neighbor(s) have a flea infestation and not nuke it promptly and properly and their problem is now all over in your yard and getting on your dogs.

That stuff has warning labels too about it being a poison...

A poison you don't really want on 'b]you[/b] if you can help it when applying it to the dog. Not supposed to eat or smoke or anything resembling getting those hands near your mouth if your hands contact the stuff...

But it is 'ok' for the dog that shit is being applied to cause he is never, ever going to lick himself where you just put that stuff on his body. :)
