We've been doing it wrong the whole time. White light is in the bioluminescent spectrum, & shining it essentially scares away deep sea biology, wheread nonbioluminescent wavelength spectrum - specifically red - is basically invisible to them, so they behave normally, & can easily be bait-lured for easy viewing. | Have we skipped right past giant squid to colossal? I worked with a scientist who dropped deep sea landers for biological studies. IIRC she had multi colored lights on the devices to attract different species. I never learned her results though. |
