My Explorer is my first automatic, and I'd read that the position in which you store it overnight can effect the accuracy of the watch. I know there are apps and such that can measure this for you but I wasn't in a rush so I did it the old-fashioned way. When I got back from the trip where I bought the watch and reset it to my time zone, I synced it with my iPhone clock. For the next month, I stored it crown-up every night in one of those zip-up clamshell cases off Amazon. After 31 days, I checked it against the iPhone clock again and found it was about 33 seconds slow - 1.08 seconds per day. Not bad and well within Rolex's 2 second plus/minus guarantee. I reset it at that point and let it run for another month, this time storing it crown-down. After 32 days, it was 20 seconds slow - .625 seconds per day. Needless to say I'm very pleased with that. I may redo the test storing it flat, but I've read that you have to be careful doing that so you don't scratch the caseback or the clasp. Crown-down and losing far less than a second a day, though? Pretty damn good. Just a fun little experiment. |
I don't know what will happen, or if anything will happen. But if something does, I'd rather be the guy with a gun than the guy without one.
