They say the propulsion is presented as a new electrostatic, propellantless thrust effect maybe from higher‑order quantum-electrodynamic interactions, allegedly producing net force in vacuum without expelling mass (from their website). Biefeld–Brown effect was explained by ion wind but who knows, that's a deep rabbit hole. They mention in the podcast there could be overlap. Alcubierre drive needs something like element 115 or exotic material that we don't know about. The big deal is the proof in a vacuum. And they have a patent and one pending. And I thought the part about lowering inertia was interesting in regards to the tic-tac. And how to go theoretically through solid matter. It is the most compelling case for over unity I've heard. |

The drive worked in space when a smaller test item was attempted and results matched expectations, but still it's extremely tiny thrust in the orbital experiment. The Biefeld-Brown was noticed as a curiosity and nothing useful to apply it to back then, it barely held the foil up so they had to use practically invisible 38 gauge magnet wire and was nothing more than a curiosity. These guys seem to have found one more thing that makes the test in orbit version more efficient, it doesn't need a form of negative mass to gets tarted or something, they're not releasing their papers but saying how awesome it will be and this marks about the 5th time we've seen a startup company with the same general concept of high voltage and only electrodes producing thrust (without an intermediate like Xenon gas to carry the charge, that's an Ion drive when using a charged gas for thrust but similar in major aspects.) |

I found this one very exciting with the open talk about their anti gravity tech and even not having to go into orbit to land from now on. Without doubt it will improve even more. This is the answer Elon has been waiting for if he hasn’t known about it already. No more need for hundreds of launches to to refuel the ships to go to Mars or wherever! And even the ability to easily land the craft back on earth. My question is are our friends going to allow us to do this??? |

With the tech we have and the theory of the asymmetrical plate capacitor (Warp Drive discussed), it still needs chemical rockets to get into at least geosync transfer orbit, and maybe even a further kick to get started on the mission to mars. I don't think any pure electrostatic motor could break our gravity. There was a documentary about a guy building one in his garage and he was hired then it was no longer talked about. About 2 years later NASA did the orbital test of the similar Alcubierre drive, they're all very similar but slightly different enough to fit into the category of "electrostaic drives" but apparently different enough to be patented, which is good, since we can then see in the patent how to build it and how much thrust to expect. All of the prior experiments had the test drive on a beam hanging from a wire in a vacuum, and if it could go from not moving to twisting the wire, it was a success. That tells you how much of an effect one of the previous versions was. It seems "electrostatics" have gone buzzword of late, electrostatic speakers and headphones have been around a long time but now people are paying crazy amounts of money for things that they haven't found the disappointments with. There s a reason dynamic magnet/coil headphones are still the norm for audio. Here's where they're using stacks of electrostatic disks for traditional torque motor replacement. This is a radial application of electrostatics, while the spacecraft propulsion would be an axial drive and I'm not sure how they lay that out, that's what makes them different. | I need to go back and find it but I don’t think these are the only guys that have found a way to do this. There is a podcast from a maybe Norwegian lady about the fact that we now have anti-gravity technology. These are exciting times we are living in! But only IF WE CAN CONTROL IT which we may not be able. I’ll search shortly after I have gotten going better and add it to this post. |
