Been watching the history channel and tonight it was on the dam busters in WWII. Something I don't quite understand is, Why couldn't they simply use marine type torpedoes? I fully understand how the bombs they used worked and I understand how torpedoes of the time worked and their depth requirements. Why wouldn't a torpedo have done the job? MLG |

Barnes Wallis, inventor of the skip bomb was there when the survivorsof the raid returned. Prior to the raid he was a 'Cheerio, old Boy. As he realized the missing planes that didn't arrive meant youn British men had died his entire attitude changed. |
