This is my recent photo from a couple days ago.  I'm 50 years old.  I'm about a month into a slow bulk focusing on gaining 3/4 lbs or so per week.  I will continue this for about the next 3 months and then try to lean back down as far as I can comfortably go.

ETA:  Current photos posted further down the page.

Me too. Oatmeal, sweet potatoes and pizza (only sunday).

180.  I can run a sub 7 mile.  370x6 on bench.  435x6 on DL.  350x6 on Squat.

Carbs are our friend.

You got me beat on the lifts but I can smoke you by 2 minutes in the mile run.

Yeah I do the steel cut oats with flax.  Add in brown sugar, walnuts and raisins.

I need to see what I can do a straight mile.  I can run 5 at 7:20.

I'm happy for 48 but always looking to improve.

Post up a photo man I want to see the 180 lbs man that can hit the lifts you mentioned of 370x6 on bench.  435x6 on DL.  350x6 on Squat.  Your squat is way low in proportion I'm curious what your physique looks like and no I'm not a homo I'm happily married to a woman that is heavily into fitness herself.

yes, but that is the furthest I ever run.  I do some hiking with a backpack and steel targets in it for my shooting hobby but otherwise I focus on short sprints and not long-distance stuff.  Most people guess me to be 35 years old and that is with a shirt on.  I've worked hard and had a relatively healthy diet all my life, but I'm also blessed genetically not in size but in other ways.  My grandpa is 93 and the doctors say there is nothing wrong with him.  He says well I can't do some of the things I used to be able to do and sometimes my back hurts.  Doctor says well you are 93 LOL.

Most people haven't figured out there are only two reasons why I post shirtless selfies.

  1. To give credibility to my workout diet advice to show that I actually do this stuff because we can say or be anyone we want on the internet :-)

  2. Because I put in a lot of work over many years and I'm proud of what I've accomplished at my age so why not show it.

People on arfcom brag about everything in their life as far as things they own, their investments, income, etc why not brag about your fitness level?  Some people get butt hurt seeing an older guy in better shape than them and I obviously don't care about that.

I know there are some way faster and stronger dudes on here than me and I love seeing their posts calling out fatties LOL.

I even reached out to one member here privately asking about TRT, Anavar, and other drugs as I was considering talking to a clinic to get on TRT even though I have no idea what my test levels are.  He has experience and was open about using many ped's and still strongly advised against it since I didn't "need" it if I wasn't experience low test issues.  I took his advice and plan to stay natty at least a while longer.  I suppose if I put off TRT as long as I can I always have that card in my deck if I ever need it in my later years as I never did drugs or lived a poor lifestyle to screw up my natural hormone levels.

I don't really care about all of the other stuff, but that mile time is impressive.  Sub-5 puts you in about the top 5% overall (all ages, both genders) of basically any 1-mile race that you could reasonably enter anywhere in the USA.  I realize that you are mainly a weight lifting guy, but if you have a competitive personality (seems like you probably do) you really should enter some races.  You will crush your age group consistently.  Heck, in smaller local races you'll likely crush yours plus 3 or 4 other age groups if you don't win the whole race.  You'll have to be on the lookout for current & former male HS and college runners, but other than that there won't be much of anyone who you'll even need to take seriously.  You'll pretty much beat every female every time unless you happen to have an olympic hopeful living in your area or something.

Meh.  I was in track in high school.  Mostly a sprinter 100, 200, and 400.  I was faster in the mile back then too but not by a lot.  I couldn't even qualify for state championships in any track event.  I did long jump as well but that was my worst event.  I probably maintained closer to my high school times at 50 than 99% of folks, but I was never an elite athlete.

I can make the 165 lbs weight class in power lifting and do a double without a spotter pausing at the bottom on both reps on bench press with more than the current state record for my weight class.  I thought about going to compete just to do it, but I'm really not interested enough in competing.

Competing in anything usually ends up way to serious and time consuming and also leads to injury eventually as you are pushing extremes during training for competition or during competition.

...my main reason for not competing though is because I'm not into micro records and not many my age show up for something like that.  For example what would I say if I did enter: Hey I won the state power lifting meet for 165 pounders over 50...wow no kidding how many people entered...uh 2...LOL.  I'm not interested in that.  Honestly I'd rather watch the youngins in their prime do unthinkable things.

I have no idea how many 50-whatever year olds compete in weightlifting, but you could compete against dozens or hundreds of them in running, depending on the race.  And you'd beat 95% of the 15-50 year olds while you're at it.

I'm not interested in competition don't have the time or desire to do it.  My hobby is drag racing and that along with my regular workouts take up all my free time.  I'm fortunate enough my wife works out and is on the same page with me on food so we have that time together.

There are plenty of people in this world who are actually better at various things they like to do than people that compete at it they just don't care to get involved in that.  There are guitar players on youtube better than people you hear on the radio making hundreds of thousands of dollars or even millions they just don't want to do everything that is involved in that.

Besides what would I gain by going and running a mile in 4:55 against other 50 year olds?  Is there massive amounts of money in it for me?  If I could do that and retire maybe you could convince me if it was just to say I ran 4:55 against others instead of at the local track on an evening all by myself then I'm not interested.

I think you may be misunderstanding, I do not care one way or the other whether you run races or not.  I’m just telling you that you 1-mile time is really fast; freakishly so for someone your age who doesn’t put any effort whatsoever into running or care about it at all.  It’s sort of hard to believe to be honest, but who cares?  No matter what the subject is, there will always be someone making claims that they aren’t willing to quantify.  At that point it’s just noise.

You are correct I was misunderstanding that this was actually a call out because you think I'm lying.

Hmm...  now I'm thinking of how I could actually prove this because I am that guy which is exactly why I post selfies to prove what my physique looks like.  I'm going to come up with something to prove this.

I also notice when people brag about their physique and are asked to post a photo, they generally disappear as well so I'm with you on your thinking and not mad that you would have your doubts.

Yeah, you get it.  It’s like the guy you run into at the gym who’s just sort of hanging around not doing much, but will tell you how he benches 415 for sets of 10.  When you invite him over to the bench to demonstrate this rare and impressive feat, he’ll always say something like “I’d love to bro, but I just had shoulder surgery to remove shrapnel that I picked up on one of my combat deployments as a Navy Seal.  The Secretary of Defense told me that my skill set is too valuable for the nation to risk losing, so if I get caught lifting any weights outside of Special Forces operations within the next 2 years he will have me brought up on charges for destruction of government property.  And I swore an oath that I’d never let my country down bro.”

He might really be the guy who can bench 415x10, but with no way to ever actually find out, it’s just boring talk.

I think you’re a bit too emotionally invested in all this.

It’s just a dude posting physique pics on the internet (over and over again, lol).  It’s hardly “arch nemesis” level stuff but a lot of guys here seem to turn it into that.

He has been an extreme douchebag to me and many others over the years simply because he doesn't agree 100% with what other people do.  He will call you out and insult you.  He has a chip on his shoulder for some reason and thinks he is the end all and be all of fitness advice.  It just gets old.  You probably have not experienced him enough to see the pattern.

Though he thinks he is the end all and be all he needs constant validation and does it enough most in GD think he is a fucking weirdo.

He still starts threads to post the same pics.  Sometimes weird car reflections and shit.  He has just gotten a little wiser and started threads with an actual topic but inevitably he always slips those pics in which was his whole goal to begin with.

Then he will go on some weird diabtribe about all the pussy he had back in his day and how hot his wife is and how much action he gets.  It's always in response to everyone mercilessly mocking him.  It makes it even fucking funnier.

Dude is a straight up weirdo.  He peaked in highschool as far as his life goes never leaving the town he grew up in and working a factory job.  You can tell by the shit he posts.

I literally used to like the guy.  He just showed his ass so many times I can't stand him now.  I honestly find him funny at this point.  The more time goes on the more people dog pile him.  He can't start his old photo threads anymore everyone was mercilessly making fun of the weirdo.  Now he starts threads about diet or what not but it's just him working up to show his photos for validation.  It's pretty funny.

I showed some progress photos here in the past.  He shat on those also.  He just likes to tear others down unless they lockstep agree with him.

What forum rules did I violate?  I’ve made no personal attacks?   Is living rent free in other members heads a violation of forum rules?

It’s odd that this is the only place I get treated the way i do. Most of arfcom hates everything and this is the only forum in general that I see that hates and argued over everything.

I also get treated very well in general in my personal life and I treat others very well.  In the few instances that someone is an asshole or disrespectful to me in my daily life I respond accordingly.

I’m often out in a tank top or no shirt at the race track or other events and no one has ever come up to me and said anything negative to me in person.  It’s never happened.  Only here.

I’ve posted photos on Facebook and even the Facebook crowd doesn’t act this way towards me.
