It has been a long time since I last posted here, but today, I share some deeply sad news. Our great friend and brother, Wayward_Texan, has passed away. Those who had the privilege of knowing him in real life understand what a truly remarkable person he was. Many of us stood alongside him in Virginia for Lobby Day, united in purpose and principle. Mike was a man of honesty and integrity, and his absence will be felt by many. James Michael Perryman is no longer with us. I will share a link to his obituary below. A Tribute to Mike: Mike was not only a loyal friend but also a combat veteran and proud Army Infantryman (11B). His dedication to service and country was unwavering. He was inside the Pentagon on 9/11 when the attack occurred and was immediately called into action—donning his gear, receiving a badge, and assisting in the response. He lived by the warrior ethos, always standing ready to defend, protect, and serve. And shortly after 9/11, he was on top of the Empire State Building, installing his own antenna for comms—no small feat. That was Mike—always finding a way to be prepared, connected, and in service to others. Mike was also a passionate HAM radio operator, known by his call sign K5JMP. His love for communications was just another example of his dedication to being ready and helping others. A Special Request: Mike rescued a German Shepherd named Mavka, and she was his loyal companion. She is now in the care of Stafford County Animal Control and is in need of a loving home. Mavka stood guard over Mike for a week after his passing, a testament to her loyalty. She is currently a bit dehydrated and malnourished, but otherwise, she is a brave and loving dog who deserves a new family. Mavka is 2 years old and will turn 3 on June 11, 2025. We are hoping that someone will step forward to adopt Mavka and provide her with the great life she deserves. It's always sad when we outlive our furry companions, it's sadder when they outlive us.  On the bright side, his trash panda shirt made me chuckle.
