12VHPWR standard and connector lives on. Time for a new Seasonic PSU is in the future for me for the new build. Be careful with the cables, and connectors you use, especially if you are using 90 degree adaptors for these new(er) card connection standards. Also the room you compute in is better if its on a 20a circuit versus 15a. I wish i was on a 20a circuit for overhead for peripherals in the room. ![]() 12VHPWR is a Dumpster Fire | Investigation into Contradicting Specs & Corner Cutting |

Nvidia's own charts show that the RTX5070 is <50% faster than the RTX4070 with RT and DLSS3. The only games that are 2x the performance of a RTX4070 is the DLSS4 games due to the use of MFG (multi frame generation) which means they add 2 extra fake frames rather than only 1.

In the meantime ![]() Anyone that takes 1st party claims seriously is an idiot. There's not a tech company out there that doesn't cherry pick some stat they got under ideal controlled lab conditions, tout some big and substantial gains, and then ignore explaining the details. Apple does a better job with their charts and thats not saying much. And when these do launch you also have to take into account early drivers and game optimizations into account. AMD typically has poor launches but improves things through software quite a bit over time. Thats one of the reasons reviewers have an even harder time doing comparisons and reviews now is they really need to test multiple products all over again to get good current numbers and not re-use data they got at launch from another product two years ago. |

You're absolutely right. Its like the Intel B580, 1st reviews were pretty solid, but as its getting out there in the wild, users are not getting the performance that were made during 1st claims. Things that werent accounted for like slow memory, out dated CPU's and such that didnt match the picked test machines. |

| I get a kick out of the "costumes" these Bay Area people wear as part of their image, and then they can't let go. Jensen Huang in a leather jacket is tiresome, just like Zuckerberg in a hoodie, Jobs in a turtleneck, and every other San Jose creature in ratty blue jeans and a sports coat. |

I'll grab whatever board partner 5090 I can get with a CLC from the factory, but I would probably settle for an air cooled Strix version out of desperation. Hopefully it won't take months after release to see these at Microcenter. With the 5090 having a TDP of 575w, I'm wondering how much OC potential there will be w/o updating the bios. |

I have been waiting for CES to see that new products are available for my new desktop. I am thinking of the 5070, once tested, it should spank my almost 7 year old RS 580 that I using right now. |

I've always been a XX80Ti guy, but it seems they don't do that anymore. Sure, they have the 5070Ti, but I was hoping to keep with the theme of 1080Ti, 2080Ti, 3080Ti...., So I'm going for the 5080. I may actually go for a Founders Edition vice a board partner this time. I like the look and I never OC my GPU, it would feet in better with my cleaner recent build which has no RGB in it. |

I'm shocked they haven't opened a Microcenter in Nashville yet. At least they didn't buy a plot of land and then continue to sit on it for a decade like they did up here.. The only bottleneck I hit on my 3080ti is the 12Gb vram. I would have absolutely loved to see the 5080 come with more than 16gb as that would have been an instant buy in my book. I'll have to see how performance actually plays out in stuff like VR Flight Sim before slapping money down. 5090 would be the nuclear option but $2-2.5k price tag they'll end up at is a huge hurdle to come up with a justification for. |

Im torn between going with the founders or going with Gigabyte again. (damn I miss EVGA) A 2 slot 5090 might look a bit small in my case and I really wonder if the thermals are going to be good with that design, hard to tell. I also dont OC my GPU. - I do like Gigabyte since they have a 4 year warranty on cards vs the normal 3. |

Nvidia has the RTX5090M listed as a GB203 with a 256bit bus and 24GB GDDR7, meaning that is the only model with 24Gb GDDR7 ICs. The GB203 in the RTX5080 is cut down slightly, so they will use that higher bin for the RTX5080Ti or w/e. It seems unlikely they will use the 24Gb GDDR7 since that would potentially cannibalize their GB202 384bit salvaged die. The GB202 has at least 4-5 different bins that they aren't using which is weird since I was expecting a 448bit part to be the RTX5090 since it is such a large die and it would help to be able to salvage a lower binned chip. I would assume a fully enabled GB202 with 48GB GDDR7 would be used for a Quadro/Tesla variant. |
