Quite the opposite. I contend that this painting is going to be the most Scripturally accurate portrayal of the War in Heaven/Fall of the Damned, that has ever been created in the entire History of Art. A painting of this that shows Classical figures with white wings, halos and Roman togas is as fictitious a portrayal of Heaven, as is the “Flying Spaghetti Mobster.” |

The Roman toga is a great summary for how most people think of it. The SmarterEveryDay tour of Pompeii showed much more proper what people dressed like back then, in all the bath houses/brothels where there were pictorial "menus" of which kind of sex or massage you wanted since most people couldn't read. That's a great episode. Still liking the art, is this going to be hung in a main room or will the wife veto it? |

I mistakenly took the FSM reference as a philosophical, rather than aesthetic observation. The Roman toga is a great summary for how most people think of it. That same feminine shape is facing a shape that might be seen as a serpent? The figure behind the feminine shape seems to pulling the female away from the serpent, perhaps Adam? To the right of the Serpent is a rifle, maybe war and to the right of the rifle that mass might be the children of Adam and Eve embroiled in constant conflict? Below those I see almost the belly of the beast or maybe Hell that everything descends into? But then there is a row of lighter colored small blobs along the bottom. One of them is heart shaped? Maybe a bit of love survives? Might it be the story of Eve's Temptation and the expulsion from the Garden of Eden and then the chaos that follows? |
