A guy about an hour from me has a 2015 Yamaha V-star 950 with (he says) 9800 original miles on it. Facebook Marketplace listing. He's asking $3,500. Says he just doesn't ride it anymore and could use the cash. It kinda shows signs of being kept outdoors in the weather. Good price? Appears to been rode through salt spray in the gulf or up north in winter and never washed, if it rusts in open, check frame under seat & covers, the salty shit likes axles & axle nuts and brake caliper pistons too. I'd check tires (with 9800 miles most likely need new ones), the last time oil, filter and air filter changed. Bike parts aren't cheap and just seeing rusty chrome would make me offer lot less than $3500. |

It’s been down, so the very first thing that I would check would be the steering stops. If they are bent or mangled, you don’t need to do anything else but walk away If they’re good, then it is going to be as mentioned…….tires. Brake operation. How it fires from cold, and how it idles and revs. Do the springy parts front and rear do suspension things. If it checks out, then it’s about cosmetics and what needs doing to meet your standards. I’d budget for a new drive belt, brake fluid flush, tires, filters and oil. |

I been riding them since the mid 70s, my bro's rm80, I got my first mini bike in 79', honda 50. Since then bikes just kept getting bigger as I got older and had funds to buy bigger. Several weeks back traded my vtx1300 cruiser for a van, Didn't need a van, but been wanting a older one in decent shape for a camping shaggin wagon. First time I haven't had a bike in a long time, I rode my woman's 250 rebel to store this evening, pretty sure I looked like a bear on a kids bike cruisin hahahaha. |
