Soaked a chuck roast in some sauces and threw it on for about 8 hours total. Freaking worth it!

Brisket is cheaper around here than chuck roast.
Have a Prime packer from Costco going on the BGE this evening for tomorrow.

Only briskets Ive seen around here are the $100 big boys and we were just craving some burnt ends so I kind of winged it. Will do it again but it is a little bit of a waste of smoke when your chuck is on nearly as long as a brisket goes

I'm doing a chuck roast/burnt ends smoke today, too.  Doesn't take 8 hours though. Three hours to get it to 165, wrap and another hour to get it to 205 (first smoke at 225, 2nd at 205). Then rest, cube, sauce and back on to finish uncovered to caramelize the sauce. Total time invested is under 6 hours.

I didn’t wrap so that was probably a little of the extra time. I was really hesitant to marinate in the Worcestershire and bbq sauce first but it came out good enough I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. Don’t know if it was necessary for the flavor or if the smoke and sauce at the end was where it came from but it didn’t hurt and maybe kept it a little more moist during the smoke

I like chuck roast burnt ends, got some ready seasoned up for smoking tomorrow.  Last batch was pretty epic

That looks amazing. I’m so glad we’re heading to lunch in a moment. Definitely getting smoked brisket.

My family loves pork butt burnt ends.

I just toss the cubes on the pellet grill for a couple hours and then into some butter and sauce to braise a bit at the end.

Super cheap and easy.

Slow smoked chuck roast is good food. Makes great tacos.

My Costco used to have a 2 pack of chuck roasts for pretty cheap (like under $30). One would be for a pot roast and the other I'd smoke for burnt ends. I've done it with a slab of pork belly, too with good results.

And a brisket is 4-5 times the weigh of a chuck, which means overall the chuck is still cheaper.
