Of no great importance really but I've managed 68 years with these Mark #1 eyeballs and finally it's time for an overhaul. I'm not particularly anxious but it should be interesting. Cataracts, a different type of astigmatism (irregular astigmatism/EBMD), nearsighted, and I need readers! I've opted for plain distance vision and then I'll get glasses for reading and close up work. The astigatism is taken care of by glasses too. I opted to not get the Toric lenses as I wanted zero halos, starbursts, or flares. And since I already wear glasses it's not that big of a deal still having to use them. I'll go back in a month for the left eye, same procedure. I'm hoping recovery will not be too difficult or painful. I've been doing everything they told me to do. Drops, eye cleansers, etc. I'm looking forawrd to not seeing the outline of a street sign hovering around the real sign. Right now everything looks like a mirage. Makes if hard to drive and do so safely. |

I got the latest lenses about three years ago. They allow your eye to focus again without corrective lenses. At the time I was told it was not 100% that you would not continue to need corrective glasses after the surgery. Fortunately I was one of the 100 % improved group. My eyesight went to 20/10. I is actually better but a cataract sufferer would certainly consider it untrue if I wrote the true number. Let me just say I can now read those teeny teeny tiny letters at the very bottom of chart. In short, the rear sight, front sight, and target are present in full view. Thankfully non prescription Ray Ban lenses are available for all Ray Ban wire frames. Including the yellow photo chromatic lens for the classic shooting frames... |

Good luck. It's very likely that you will end up with MUCH better vision than you have now. I had my lenses replaced two years ago. Best decision I ever made. Went in the building damn near blind. Came out with HD vision. I had mine both done in the same day. Weirdest thing was they don’t put you out, but gave me something that made me not give shit what was happening. The light show while the doc pulled out my lenses was pretty cool. Recovery was nothing but drops. No pain. No problems. |

I had one done a week and a half ago, getting the other done Thursday. Driving at night was really getting to be a PITA and was my main motivation. Not allowed to wear a contact in my other eye this week, so I can only see out of the eye they already did.  The surgery is a freaky experience, but it doesn't take long. |

I had both eyes done about a year ago. It was life changing for the better. Words cannot describe how well it went (zero pain) and how much better I can see. I was not comfortable driving at night prior to the surgery. I play golf and could not see a ball in the fairway at 85 yards. I can now see one at 300. My doc was great and is a former military doc who brought vision back to a lot of wounded veterans. It took him about 7-10 minutes per eye of actual operating time and I'm extremely grateful to him. |

Not to hijack the OP (good luck!), but to those why have done it, what is recovery before back to work? I've heard it is weight lift restricted due to potential strain/pressure. I work in a fairly physical job with a lot of lift, pull, carry, etc. Not really a position that has light duty work available or offered. I know I have to do something soon. Last checkup doc told me nothing else he can tweak on my rx. I'm about 8ft from a 55" TV and picture is okay-ish but any wording on the screen is overlapping letters. |

I had one eye done in Oct and the other in Jan, this year. I sprung for the multifocal lenses. $3k out of pocket per eye. Well worth it. My astigmatism was so bad Zeni could not make glasses for me. Corrected my best eye was 20-50. Now with no glasses I am 20-20 in each eye. |
