| Let me start off as saying I’m not a cat person. Never owned one. Alway’s had dog’s. Have one dog left. She is six. My oldest died three years ago. Anyway, a kitten was abandoned in my back yard. There’s more detail, but not worth getting into. Brought it in three days ago. Should I keep it or find a shelter? |

Does dog like it so far? Does cat like dog? My cats adored my dog.

| Ya can’t force it but our cats have always been good friends to our dogs but cats are aloof at best so they may not work as a companion. |

| The kitten is about 4 weeks old. My dog initially tried go after it and bark, but didn’t seem like she was trying to hurt it. Dog instincts I guess .Got her in the house on the first day and she started to groom it. She will look for it when we come back in the house from yard time, but other than that she doesn’t seem to have interest in it at this point. |

The kitten and dog COULD turn out to be best buddies. At this point it seems like your dog is cool with the cat, so that’s good. I got a Kitten four years ago that immediately bonded with my mini Aussie. They played all the time and slept together. My Aussie died in January and put the entire family, including the cat in a state of depression. Got a Aussie pup 4 months ago, we’re all healing including the cat. New dog and cat are playing all the time now. |

Both my GSDs have been good with cats as long as the cats were kittens when introduced. The dogs thought their job was to protect the small and weak. Pix of my old GSD and the stray he adopted (both long gone)  |

I had a lab/golden retriever/husky mix until about 2 1/2 years ago. I was always afraid of him eating cats due to the husky in him. I was wrong and he loved cats. We ended up getting a Great Pyrenees/lab mix to replace the other dog after he passed. And she loves the cats too. All of our cats are indoors only and the dog tries to herd any outside cats into the house if they come in the yard. I say keep the kitten if the dog gets along with it. |

| Honestly, I was a dog-only kinda person too till my sis rescued this tiny furball. Total chaos at first, lol. But now? Can’t imagine life without her. If the kitten seems comfy and your dog’s cool with it, maybe give it a shot. Way better than a shelter vibe. And btw, I even saw a Pharmacy B2B post once about pet meds—so go figure. |
I'm guessing it's the exception, I dunno, but in my experience they can sure get along and get bonded in some cases. Our youngest dog, who is really still a puppy, has taken a shine to an old white cat we have, and I've caught them sleeping together, in deep sleep, facing each other, touching. It's endearing and kinda weird.  But man my heart just gets filled with love for both of em when I catch em that way. We've always joked that the old white cat is autistic, cause he's super aloof and really never gets very close emotionally to anyone, except for the puppy now.
