There are a lot of cool Canadians but sadly they're very much a minority. The rest of them are douchebags that have terrible attitudes and refuse to acknowledge they've been damn lucky for a long time to be our northern neighbor. I say cut them off and make it hurt. When you give people plenty of warnings and time to change their behavior but they double and triple down then you need to make it sting and make it something they remember for a long time. |

They figured out if they did nothing we'd have to do everything and it's because if the USSR/Russia ever launched nukes they'd go over the polar side come in from Canadian airspace. If we want to protect ourselves we have to monitor their air space because they sure as fuck are not going to. Half of them would probably throw a party if we got nuked. Remember the Chinese balloon incident? That came in from Canada and the Canadians had no idea it traversed up over top and down through their territory. They're useless and will fight to avoid spending even their very absolute minimum NATO obligation. This is the country that elected Trudeau three times. Not once not twice but three fucking times knowing he was a CCP ass kisser. Fuck em. |

Who the fuck are they to demand terms against us? The majority of their population lives near our border, I can't help but wonder why. 🤷 Originally Posted By Rebel31: There are a lot of cool Canadians but sadly they're very much a minority. I'm not so sure your case exists anymore. They've taken in millions of Chinese and Indians, and allowed them to take political seats. They're not leaving, unless the fun option pops up. I'll fight for 40 acres in Banff and a saddle broke moose. We like to party, we like we like to party.

On the Canadian dairy tariffs - You guys act like this is so unusual. Pretty much every country has high tariffs to protect its own ag industry. The US has dairy quotas and tariffs on dairy products. https://hts.usitc.gov/reststop/file?release=currentRelease&filename=Chapter%204 |

Canada. The socialist country completely in bed with China and full of raging faggots. The people who ruined the lives of Covid protesters and froze their bank accounts for sitting in trucks. The same people who would rather kill people via MAID then try to help them. The same people who have basically replaced their native population with 3rd worlders. I’m devastated. Any of you acting like Canada really matters or is the same country that it was in the 20th century are insane or have TDS so badly that you can’t see the MASSIVE problem that started developing on our northern border years before Trump came into office. |

My guess is you can thank Lutnick for throwing a wrench into the gears at the last moment.... it was being reported up here and the U.S. yesterday that he was yapping that there was a better deal to be had than the framework of the one on the table. I looked at the numbers for 2025 as reported by the US. Trade Representatives Office and on a goods and services basis, Canada had a $20.6 billion dollar surplus on a total of $873 billion in total trade between the 2 nations. https://ustr.gov/countries-regions/americas/canada I've pointed in out before, 41 million Canadians annually buy more American goods and services than the combined 1.6 billion populations of China and Japan. But for the fact that the USA buys over $200 billion in energy and resources from Canada (heavy crude, natural gas, potash, uranium, nickel, electricity, America would be enjoying a large annual surplus. We'll definitely feel it more in Canada but if this escalates further, there's going to additional pain on the American side... starting with it's going to negatively impact the Senate races in Michigan and Maine for the Republicans. 50% of everything Maine exports goes to Canada for starters... Maine also gets 95% of it's winter heating oil from Canada. 36% of total goods exported by Michigan go to Canada. Escalation will also increase inflationary effects up here and in the USA.... but no mid-term elections equivalent up here in November though. We'll see where aluminum goes as well.. but a 50% tariff on Cdn aluminum is moronic... while volumes are down, the USA is still buying a lot with the buyer paying the tariff and passing the additional costs on. Monthly, Canadian aluminum sales to Europe have been setting new records as well..... Why the U.S. Needs Canadian Aluminum (taken from Dec. 2025 U.S. Chamber of Commerce report) Supply Deficit: The U.S. produces a fraction of the primary aluminum it consumes annually, making foreign supply vital. Energy Constraints: Smelting aluminum requires massive amounts of continuous electricity. U.S. grid power is increasingly expensive and heavily contested by high-demand data centers. Hydroelectric Advantage: Canada—primarily Quebec—uses abundant, low-cost hydroelectric power to produce millions of tonnes of low-carbon aluminum. Economic Integration: Replacing Canadian imports with purely domestic manufacturing would require decades of infrastructure building and massive new power generation. https://www.uschamber.com/international/the-special-case-of-canadian-aluminum |

Auto and parts trade between Canada and USA has been balanced for years.... the huge benefactor in the USMCA though has been Mexico which runs a huge annual surplus in the auto and parts trade. . |

You're Canadian, so you're automatically scum. You've been cheating the US, etc, etc. Protecting one's own ag industry is very normal. The US does it (quotas even). They don't care that US companies will pay more, which will drive costs up. They just care that Canada is getting hurt. |

I understand that Canada has to look out for Canada first and all, but Carney basically came out and said they're not looking for anything resembling a fair deal, and they're not willing to reciprocate in any way for US concessions. Now, maybe that's just for domestic consumption, but from what little I know of the Canadian government, that's their actual position - they somehow think that the US should, for all intents and purposes, prop up their economy at the expense of our own. |

Hi Marie, hope your doing well in the new employment gig despite the ongoing tariff chaos. LOL, no worries I get it, there's a sizeable portion of Arfcommer's who prefer the feelz over facts.... all the polling that I've seen stateside has the majority of American scratching their heads over a trade war with Canada.... Who knows, perhaps part of any further Trump retaliation will be a tariff on Canadian beef exports to the U.S.... sure not going to help bring down prices if that occurs. Same goes for any potential tariff implemented on the 4.5 million barrels of Cdn heavy crude pipelined into the USA daily. Potash is the same story. Mid-terms being less than 90 days away though... methinks that Trump and his minions aren't going to be that keen to really get it going but who knows...we'll see. Be well.... Methinks that in the quite foreseeable future this will all get ironed out in a way that works for both Canada and the USA. |

Dude, I’m half Canadian, plus close family was involved with the cross border auto industry stuff. I’m from the Detroit area. Most of the US has no clue that Ontario is an extension of Michigan for the auto industry. It goes back more than a century. Our economies are very intertwined even past the auto industry stuff. From what I’ve read, there are restrictions on cross provincial trade so it’s a lot easier for Canadian companies to send their products south than elsewhere in Canada. That’s crazy. |

As the Brits say, "Bollocks". See my posts above... take the time to read the numbers provided by the U.S. Trade Representatives Office which the American lead trade representative Greer heads --> https://ustr.gov/countries-regions/americas/canada In the big picture, trade between Canada and USA is FAIR and has been for years. USA has also been getting about a 15% discount on Canadian heavy crude exported to the USA for decades... currently running at 4.5 million barrels a day. That's due to it's land locked pipeline status but this trade was crap is creating a big push for a lot of additional pipeline capacity to the west coast... same goes for building of NGL plants... the more that happens... the more the discount on energy sold to the USA is going to shrink and the more expensive gas and diesel is going to get long term. The Permian basin in Texas has been the majority driver for the massive growth of U.S. light oil production in the last 15 years but google "Permian Basin decline rate" some time and review what is said about the rapid rate of production decline in wells... also the fact that the best high grade drilling sites have been drilled in the past so increasingly over time what is left will have ever increasing production costs. |

I have close American family in Florida myself (American citizens)... one of my best friends up here has an adult daughter who represents the 3rd generation Ford employee. Per the restriction of cross border provincial trade... very true but the events of the past 1.5 years are rapidly bringing those restrictions down. With the latest developments, I expect that to increase as well. We'll get some decent economic pickup from that. Also between additional pipelines, massive hydroelectric projects etc, we'll get an internal economic boost from that as well. Really do believe that this will all blow over in due course... the underlying balanced trade between USA and Canada is just too beneficial for both nations for it to be otherwise imho. |

Canadians and our resident N_Ters won't like to hear this, but Canada is suffering because of their pride and stupidity. I've been spending weeks in Canada every year for the last 25 years, and the massive decline between 2025 and now has been stunning. Canada went from being a slightly poorer version of the US, to near third world status in a period of 18 months. The last time I was there, the streets were nearly empty. Gas was around $8 bucks a gallon USD, food prices were insane, shelves were empty, lots of boarded up businesses, houses for sale, etc. My friends there are struggling. Every one of them cannot afford heating oil for the winter and are using government assistance for both food and heating. These are families who used to be considered upper middle class, making low 6 figures. Personal bankruptcies are up, houses are being foreclosed, people are putting off buying new appliances/cars/travel, because they barely have money to feed themselves and their families. Meanwhile, their PM Mark Carney has US citizenship, keeps his wife and kids at their home in New York, his wife has a job at a US university, and his kids all have US citizenship and go to American schools. The majority of his investments are in US industries and companies. This all could have been avoided if Canada had just given in to Trumps demands on trade. Is it fair? No. Is Trump wrong? Yes and no. He had some valid points that got overlooked amongst the bluster and rhetoric. But none of that matters. Canada's prosperity was directly tied to its trade relationship with the USA. If Carney really cared about Canada and Canadians he would have done whatever it took to appease Trump and keep the trade relationship as untouched as possible. Worst case scenario he could revisit it in four years. Best case, he could have sucked up to Trump and kept things close to status quo Too late for that now. Carney probably has a bigger ego than Trump, and now his country is suffering because of it. |

They elected mini Castro three times and this Carney dolt right after that. They fancy themselves as a European social state not as a country that needs to earn every dollar they can which is what they are. Now the chickens are coming home to roost and they're largely too stupid to realize it after years of intentional rejection of US influence. Lets not also forget they basically sold their soul on the west coast (Vancouver) for short term gain and now none of their own citizens can afford to live there. It's not just the city center but the whole lower SW corner of BC is retardedly expensive and a lot of it is foreign owned. Around the time of the Vancouver Olympics they decided the city was international and invited in foreigners who raped the place dry. I listen to a couple of Canadian weekly shows and over the past couple of years their anti-American rhetoric has gotten super stupid. Musk is stupid, his cars suck, and his rockets are global warming. Trump is a big meanie and we can't afford defense spending. Canada is diverse and it's so great. And the best is the free healthcare scam where it's beaten into them it's "free" as if hospitals, nurse, and doctors just teleport into existence

WTF, is this like that Muslim Scottish PM? |

Leftists view countries by their government and checking the box not by the people or quality of those checkbox services. Have universal healthcare? Fucking awesome country right there. Takes 2 years to get a test because you're outside of their range of criteria? Sucks to be you hope it's not cancer. My wife got diagnosed with breast cancer in her early 30's and if we had similar universal healthcare as a lot of these countries do the test that found it would have been denied because she wasn't in the right demographic to get screened. |

Carny is a real peace of shit, but I do think the property and staying in Ny has changed this year since that stuff made the headlines earlier. His wife still looks to be employed by a ny company but works “remotely”. One kid still at Harvard. I think they now stay in Canada mostly. Not by choice probably. It seems post election and the spotlight has caused them to rearrange. |

Headquarted in Quebec with a plant in Quebec and two in northern NH. Like it or not, our economies are intertwined. |
