For those of you that have forgotten what happened a while back, I'll link the thread here. While it is too late for real closure with M.W. Mike Smith who died last year, there is some closure for those of us still in the fraternity. As a result of his actions against Batesburg-Leesville Lodge, Cal Disher was expelled from Freemasonry at the SC Grand Lodge annual communication. Now we need to get rid of Jay Pearson and all will be well in South Carolina again. |

It was a bittersweet Grand Lodge. The few I spoke with generally agreed that Cal should probably not have been expelled, but instead have been reprimanded with a suitable punishment. But the Constitution and By Laws of the Grand Lodge are clear, and Grand Lodge spoke. So we move forward. I believe that neither party ever really tried to reconcile or heal as brother Masons should. Cal was just too caught up in the Cancel Culture. Hopefully we can put this behind us, but honestly, I do not see real closure any time soon, as Cal can appeal. But then there's Jay Pearson.... Jay Pearson is a cancer that needs to be removed. He is a man who shows little integrity, and seemingly will not accept that the Grand Lodge as authority. After Grand Lodge closed, I was discussing the votes with a few brothers, and Jay came up to us unsolicited and said, "I don't care how you each voted, but just know that you, as the Grand Lodge, falsely convicted a man, which may result in civil litigation for the next 10 years." These are NOT the words of a man or Mason of integrity. And I contend that he operates in ways that provide enough plausible deniability that conviction may be very difficult. The bottom line to me is that as Masons, we obligate ourselves to live and act in specific ways that hold us to high and specific standards. What happened at Grand Lodge illustrates that if we do not act or live according to our obligations, there can and will be real consequences, consequences that can have real world impact. |

Jay Pearson is absolute scum, and I've told him so. Anyone that breaks his leg in a parking lot, then sues the Lodge falsely, deserves to be kicked out. Ridding the Craft of Disher was the first step in the right direction. You don't keep a pet rattlesnake in your pocket. |
