We have a brother, who happens to be my neighbor. He is suffering from vascular dementia. From what I am told once diagnosed those afflicted generally aren’t long for this world. My friend, and brother was diagnosed a couple of years ago, and although he had a rapid decline, something happened, possibly a miracle, and he made a temporary meaningful recovery. During that time he shared with me what he wished for his services. He wishes to be buried in his Knight Templar regalia and have the Commandery ritual performed at his services. He has recently relapsed, and is not doing well at all. Although I am Scottish Rite, I am not familiar with any York Rite protocol. During his months of clarity I was able to locate a nearby Commandery stated meeting, and I took him there for him to arrange the details. This was at the tail end of the time when lodges were not meeting due to the pandemic so they weren’t able to hold their meeting due to lack of attendance. Our brother shared his information with the members present and was hoping someone would get back with him with the details. That hasn’t happened as of yet, and it looks like his end may be near. He is in a state of decline that can’t be sustained for too much longer. I have obligated myself to see that this happens for him at his passing. I have reached out to the Florida Grand Lodge, and to both local Blue Lodges that also hold York Rite stated meetings to no avail. Does anyone have any advice at all as to how I proceed to fulfill my obligation to our brother. Any help would certainly be welcome and appreciated. I am open to any and all means of communication. |
