Any predictions on a winner? Outside Scottie, I am looking at Fitz as a contender for the jug. I also think Hatten may have a shot. |

I'm not sure Scottie is a big links talent. But you can never count him out. I like what I've been seeing in Jake Knapp lately. Sort of an unknown (at least to me) but a good ball striker. My top 5: Scheffler Lowry McIlroy Fitzpatrick Aberg Edit: It didn't let me post the A in Aberg with a little dot over it.  Edit2: No Knapp

I saw a player do something today I didn't think was legal. Sorry, I don't remember who it was. He had about an 8 foot putt, and he basically walked his foot along his intended line from the hole to where his ball was, pressing down with each step, in effect making a slight trough for the ball to follow. USGA Rule 13.1.c You may repair damage on the putting green without penalty by taking reasonable actions to restore the putting green as nearly as possible to its original condition, but only: - By using your hand, foot or other part of your body or a normal ball-mark repair tool, tee, club or similar item of normal equipment, and - Without unreasonably delaying play. But if you improve the putting green by taking actions that exceed what is reasonable to restore the putting green to its original condition, you get the general penalty. I know the Open Championship uses the R&A rules, but AFAIK, those track the USGA rules pretty closely. What do you think? |
