My friend passed away and he had a wallet with some Bitcoin, he's wife has the account but does not have the password, does anyone knows what steps she need to take in order to access the account? thanks in advance |

You need the private keys or seed phrase, unless he was foolish enough to keep them on an exchange. She should go through any secure place, even taped under drawers etc and look for 12 or 24 random words written down somewhere. Sorry about your friend.

My firm helps with crypto tracing and attempted recoveries pro bono for cases like the one you describe. I’ll send you an email shortly. Make sure your friend’s wife does not give any “account”, wallet, password, or any other information to anyone. There are a lot of scam recovery services advertising online. Just tell her to be hold on to everything - the bitcoin is not going anywhere. ETA: pm sent |
