Had a question. I've seen these little desktop bit coin miners on FB. Was wondering if anyone had any worthwhile information on the devices. TIA |
Looking for my first .45. Satin nickel Colt Combat Commander serial # 70SC85412 sold at a gun show in Louisville KY sometime in 1985. My Avatar, my sweet princess girly girl Maggie. Got a nice 15 years with her, miss her a lot.
| No personal experience whatsoever. I did watch a YouTube video about them. Guy was tickled to have it, but his admiration was not financially based. He apparently got lucky, but knew it was luck. I am not interested, but if that is what someone wants to do, go ahead. |

For what purpose? To make money mining you need to burn a lot of electricity. Mining for profit is done in areas where low cost power is available. The cost/payoff ratio is simple to determine, just lookup the hashrate of the miner you are looking at. You're not going to make money mining on your own unless you have a source of very low cost electricity. If you want your own node why not just run the software on a PC? |

First, learn how to spell it. It's Bitcoin. Not Bit Coin. There are small miners, but you will make nothing on it more than likely. It's super rare for block solved on one. It the BitAxe, I run one at home. These small miners are for the security/decentralization of the infrastructure To make money, you need a lower KW/hr, and an ASIC miner. I started in 2012 and have mined on everything. I think you're talking about this? A little desktop miner has peaked my interest too. I like the idea of it called a "Lottery" miner. I have spent a lot of money in my life on lottery tickets and haven't won enough to break even, so I thought maybe one or two of these sitting on my desk would be kind of cool One time fee of buying them and let them do the work! Also trying out a bitcoin purchase. I bought 180 DOGE Coin at $.15 a coin! Let's see what it does Cost me $30. |

I bought 2 of those little miners, with the intent of eventually buying 10 of them. My concerns at the time were how to display them. I browsed the interwebs for a bit and stumbled on a little tower on eBay. Was a little pricey for what it was, but the guy put in the work, made it, added a few features and was selling it. So I bought one. Then I bought 3 more miners and they arrived today. I got them configured and constructed my tower. Sorry for the crappy pic.  Here is a screenshot of the page to manage them. Well, I took the next step and decided to run my own Bitcoin node. I used a GMKtec, G3 Plus. Bought a barebones kit and added a 2TB SSD and 32GB of ram. https://www.gmktec.com/products/nucbox-g3-plus-enhanced-performance-mini-pc-with-intel-n150-processor?variant=a5d428a7-bd62-4548-be91-9be27fae6062 Only took about 14 hours to sync. Has been running for 24 hours now. Next step is a BItaxe or 2, then maybe an ASIC miner of some sort. |
