I am about to move from Colorado to Texas with my 2 medium dogs. We dont have fleas or ticks where I am now but I am sure ill have to deal with them in central Texas. I want to get them started on something before the move. What should I try?

Some people think I'm over-prepared, paranoid, maybe even a little crazy. But they never met any Precambrian lifeforms, did they.

I don’t know about OTC stuff. My Vet has a once per year shot made by Bravecto that he gives them, and it WORKS. My dogs are farm dogs and they get into some of the worst scenarios you can imagine. The 1 year shot is expensive ($280 / dog) but well worth it in my eyes. Attached File |

| I was using Serresto collars for awhile. I switched to Wondercide collars a year or two ago because those are supposedly all natural and don't cost as much as the other collars. Haven't had any issues so far with them other than my youngest was having allergic reactions to them so I switched him off of them. Whatever you buy don't buy from Amazon or other places with the ability to provide counterfeits. A handful of years ago dogs were dying from counterfeit collars and other drugs. |

idk if it's the best or not, but it works pretty good for flea & ticks. Permetrhim concentrate.  Follow instructions for mix amounts. You can dip them. Our dogs are big, so it's easier to mix & use a spray bottle and washrag to rub in fur. it doesn't take much concentrate added to gallon of water. |

This. Fleas and ticks are the outside - the more dangerous parasites are the ones that get inside. You might need to get your dogs checked for heart worm first though - if they have an infection already, you need to be careful with the dosage. |
