I trim my beard down to 1/8". I've tried some different beard clippers over the years but I always would end up having to go over it again and again to get stragglers... they just aren't efficient at cutting. I have a top of the line Andis corded clipper with some high quality blades and a set of combs that I got to maintain my dog but he goes to the groomer now. I thought I'd try the groomer after getting frustrated with my beard trimmer again. Holy hell... the hair just FLEW off, and I was done in less than a minute. No need to keep going back over it several times in many different directions to make it all even! Even body grooming... my hair lays flat and the trimmer I have, though sold as an all-in-one, would fail terribly at lifting the hair to cut. But again... the grooming clippers just WORK. I travel about half the year and I end up taking the beard trimmer with me, because 1) the Andis is heavy and bulky, and 2) it's not dual-voltage. Plus... I know it's overkill... so I'm looking for a beard trimmer that could even come close to competing with the Andis, and is travel-friendly. Wish list: Blades I can re-sharpen myself. I sharpen my knives as well as the grooming clipper blades... it's easy to do and sharp clippers are happy clippers. Do they even make blades for beard trimmers that you can re-sharpen? Rechargeable. Cuts quickly like a laser without missing anything or having to keep going back and forth over it Quality looking, even when cutting down to 1/8" or less. What's the best ya got? |

I have a gotta be going on 30-35+ years old Wahl professional model [corded] that is still hard to beat. Jut put the right guard on and adjust the sheer blade depth. The battery [rechargeable or replaceable] either won't last or just don't have the oomph to do what a corded one will do. |

No corded impact wrenches can compete with the top cordless impacts for maximum torque. It’s not even close). I use a cordless, rechargeable Wahl on my head. It works as efficiently and effectively as the corded one the pro used the last time I paid for a haircut. Granted, no rechargeable would last 35 years, but if it runs for ~10+ years (like my Panasonic shavers. On my 3rd one since the 90s. This one still holds a charge just fine), I’ll consider the $45 I paid, more than worth it. *** the cordless version also makes it quite a bit easier for me to buzz my own hair if the SO is busy. |
