They have small pistol primers in stock at pre-panic prices and no hazmat fee. I smell a rat...something suspicious. I'm a dinosaur and not tech savvy enough to know how to check the website to see if it's legit. Am I being paranoid? Are they GTG or a scam? Your thoughts? Barrel and Ammo Depot |

It is Barrel Ammo Depot located in Houston Texas, not Barrel and Ammo Depot and yes they are a scam! I hope you didn't get taken in by them. Their online store is fake though it looks professional the product photos are probably stock photo's taken from manufacturers websites. The address they list for their store is a small vacant warehouse not a retail store location. There are no firearms related retail business's in close proximity to the address they list on their website. The phone number listed on their website goes directly to a voicemail. The greeting on that voicemail says nothing regarding a retail store. The domain for their website has all the identifying information redacted. The State of Texas business registry has no business listed under the DBA of Barrel Ammo Depot. Their fake online store only accepts payments in the form of third party bank transfers such as Apple pay and Zelle They do not take credit cards, so there are none of the protections offered by credit card providers. Let me share my experience with them in the hopes that none of the forum members get taken in by them. Also don't confuse this scammer with a company called Ammo Depot which is a legit business. |

I had been shopping for small pistol primers and unable to find them locally. Most of what I'd seen online were either out of stock or insanely overpriced. I had decided to wait hoping that prices would someday normalize and that they would become available again. Knowing that I'd been searching for these primers, my Wife thought that ordering a couple of boxes of them for me would make a nice anniversary present. During the ordering process is where the first serious red flag appeared. They would not accept payment through credit card and would only accept payment through a site called Zelle and a couple other direct bank transfer sites thus removing any transaction protections offered by credit card providers. On her first attempt the transaction wouldn't go through so she emailed them. They responded and told her that she needed to make the payment out to a guy named Dorian Singleton and not to Barrel Ammo Depot ( Second red flag!) The order was processed and she was told via email that the order would arrive within a week. She never received a tracking number or notice that the order had shipped in the following days so she sent them several emails asking about the status of the order. They would not respond to her emails or answer their phone. |
| She finally informed me a couple days ago of her transaction with them since it had been weeks since the order was placed and I began looking into it. The address they list on their website appears to be a small vacant warehouse and not suitable as a retail location. I checked out the domain of their website and all information identifying ownership has been redacted. Also the domain has only been registered since 02/21 Calls to their phone number go directly to a voicemail with no indication of a retail business in the voicemail greeting. I also checked with the State Of Texas registry of business's and there is no business in the state of Texas registered under the DBA of Barrel Ammo Depot. Looks like my Wife is out the money due to a scam website. I will be contacting the Texas Attorney Generals office and filing a complaint. |
