Backlighting a TV

Anyone done this? I have a friend with an LED strip and he can change the colors. Seems to make the blacks on his TV darker and the picture a little crisper. Ive seen everything from $10 strips to ones with a camera that autochange.

It makes the picture appear darker because the extra light causes your pupils to constrict. No thanks.

Bias Lighting

The lights need to be at the correct color temperature for this to work well. Otherwise it just "looks cool".

Got one that uses a small camera to mimic the colors on screen. It's a cool effect, but I could take it or leave it honestly.
