News from Taiwan according to my wife: the one case in Taiwan is a Foxconn employee returning home from China for New Years. Taiwan is monitoring anyone now who returned from China for 14 days.
She also stated all of the local stores are sold out of western brand masks like 3M, but the local brands are still available, as well as the washable fabric ones people use for just riding on scooters. |

This has to be much worse than is being allowed to be reported. Death's supposedly numbering in the teens but there's video of at least four people falling down dying in the street in just this thread alone. A single hospital filled with as many or more people than the total reported number of infected. A lot of that could be contributed to panic but.... Shutting down cities with populations totaling over 20 million but total number of cases is well under 1 thousand? Somethings fucky. Not being dramatic and suggesting I think this is a pandemic but somethings off. Probably with the Chinese media and government but still. |

The man inside the box is wearing a protective suit, a mask and gloves after he reportedly showed possible symptoms, including a fever, during screening and was isolated from other travellers. The box is surrounded by staff wearing blue masks as it is wheeled to a waiting ambulance outside a terminal at the airport in Fuzhou in south-eastern China. The number of deaths in China stood at 17 on Thursday as the outbreak - which began in the central city of Wuhan - spread to other countries and the epicentre was locked down amid fears it could become a global pandemic. |

I am guessing that a lot of the "dead body" pictures are fakes/hoaxes - but the problem of course is that with China's history of censorship, suppression of information and control of the internet, you still have to worry that they MIGHT be real.
On a different note, I don't believe AT ALL that these cities are actually "quarantined" in any serious meaning of the word. Modern cities with millions of inhabitants cannot be isolated for more than a few days - they need a constant flow of food, supplies, fuel, etc in and out every day. I am pretty confident that most of this claimed "quarantine" is just bullshit that China in spinning for PR purposes, and that goods are still flowing pretty freely in and out of these cities. Of course, I could be wrong. |

Too late, Wuhan is already here. For instance there is a “Chinese Class Trip” that flew from Wuhan 2 weeks ago and is in the Maryland AO. They were to meet with local students and only after parents learned of this outbreak did they protest enough to stop the American students from interacting with the Chinese carriers. This is in one small metropolitan area. They are HERE folks. The shields are down, Mr. President did not listen. |
