Meanwhile in local news, a plane from Wuhan that took off just before they closed it down has been permitted to land at Kalibo airport. This is an airport that services one of the Philippines hottest tourist destinations, Boracay.

Normally, it's bird flu, monkey pox, or whatever and wall-to-wall "we all might die!!" coverage, which is a good sign it's nothing. This time, most of the coverage I see is tilting towards "this will be under control fast, don't worry". In my lifetime, I can't recall a quarantine on ONE city, much less multiple cities with a combined population of 20 mil. Really not sure what to make of this. |
