Original thread got archived. Someone asked "Nice score, OP! How are you finding the reach? Good fit for your hands?" Thanks! The reach isn't a problem. I've got short fingers, but long arms. The neck is pretty narrow at the nut (just shy of 1.5"), so it fits me pretty well. And GAS is a real thing. Since I got the Schecter and a Peavey Max 208 amp, I've acquired the following: Jackson JS3 Concert (Steve Harris flatwounds tuned to C Std) Dean Edge 10A (got this as NOS, built in 2016) (35" scale, tuned to BEAD) Peavey Mark VIII amp head with a Peavey 410 cab Peavey MiniMega amp head with a 212 I built using a design from Bill Fitzmaurice I also have my eye on another Schecter. I've resigned myself to the fact that having GAS is ok, since I'm single and my 2 GSDs don't care what I buy. LOL. |

This thread reminded me of this video. I guess this guy is the son of one of the Allman Brothers and he has a guitar malfunction during this song. The other guitar player does a great job of keeping the song going and the singer, trying to keep it entertaining for the audience, tries to get the bass player to get funky, but he continues to just plod along with his bass line. I played double and electric bass for years before moving to guitar BUT my son kicks the shit out of me on bass. (He got special permission to use the entire fretboard) Him @ 15: (YT Short so I dont think it will embed) Blackened Son @ 20 with his post-hardcore band at a show at a brewery. Someone on Talkbass clued me into this deal. If you're interested in a blow-out deal, a few shops on Reverb are selling the Cort GB Modern 4 OPCG for under $600. Between the bridge, tuners, pups, preamp, thats about $675. I picked up one for my son, just because, for under $540. I made an offer and they accepted it. Link to one particular Reverb listing: Link I've had all sorts of basses over the decades. I decluttered a bit a couple years ago. I'm down to my 78 Rick 4001, a couple of P basses 2013-2015, and a StingRay Special. I only keep what I gig these days. |
