Arc Raiders is gonna be DOPE! (Page 1 of 2)

Embark hosted the second Tech Test (Beta) of Arc Raiders this past weekend, and it was amazing! The graphics are fantastic, the synth-wave music is incredible, and the game play was addicting. The game overall, in its most basic format, reminds me a LOT of Vigor, a free to play, 3rd person extraction shooter. Arc Raiders is similar. The world is a post-apocalyptic wasteland where humanity survives underground, but “Raiders” travel to the surface to scavenge for materials. There, you engage in a PvPvE gameplay where you can face Arc (the environmental element), a system or race of various robots that exist to wipe out humanity, as well as other raiders (real players, who may or may not be friendly). You can find weapons, ammo, materials and supplies, as well as food to bring back with you. Backpack space is limited so you must choose wisely what you want to keep or not, and if you die, you loose everything. There are specific extraction points around the map that will close or be unusable after a set time shown next to them on the map. To use them, you must “call them in” or request them. In some cases it’s an elevator that has to be sent to the surface, in others it may be a subway train. Either way, there’s a set time before they arrive, and you’ll need to survive that period while various noises and alarms are made to announce the extracts arrival. We did hit a few glitches where we got stuck under the map or behind an object that we couldn’t escape from, so it does still need a little polishing. But overall we had an amazing time. The world/environment was beautifully done, and the gameplay was engaging. Check some gameplay out if you’re interested. I really hope it catches on and the devs support it for a good, long while. I also hope they perhaps release a campaign DLC of some kind eventually, as I think there’s some solid potential there. Either way, unless they make DRASTIC changes for the worse, I’ll be buying it when it fully releases. |
|
The game is ready for pre-order, and a Server Slam is taking place October 17-19 before the game drops on the 30th. If you’ve not checked it out, it’s worth at least taking a look! This is a 3rd person PvPvE looter/extraction shooter that has an amazing ambiance and is beautifully done both visually and audibly! |

Headset isn't on. Wonder wtf was getting picked up and HOW. Playing on 2080ti, is is chugging along and looks great. CrowbarJunkie82 |

| im digging it, but my two main friends I play with didn't like the server slam really and are being gay, so im playing solo. i felt like the server slam was close, and something was just missing, and it was just all the shit they had locked out, ive been liking it more every time i log in |

See? I TOLD y’all it was gonna be dope! I’ll admit the sweats came out faster than I expected, at least in squads. Solos is generally more chill, but you still get the lying sacks of shit who pull the “don’t shoot” and then light you up at the elevator. I know, trust no one, but the devs intended for us to team up against the Arc and I feel like that isn’t happening nearly as much because nobody trusts anyone else. Oh well… But overall I’m loving the game! The vibe, the mechanics, the stress, the highs of a successful extraction, the uncertainty with each raid. My group is digging it! We’re pretty casual and laid back, so we progress when we progress, and we don’t when we don’t. We still get our knickers in a bunch when people are douchey or we get our asses handed to us, but we’re loving the game right now! |

Yeah solos have been way more friendly than squads, even on the night raids. |

I havent played in a group with the full release, but during server slam it seemed like everyone was shooting on sight I played on release day for a few hours and in solos everyone was on edge and a lot of people were fighting. I went hunting, came back 5 days later, and if you are on comms quick, i havent died since. i have had maybe 3 people try, but i just ran like a bitch and escaped lol. in solos, helping others take down the bigger arc is pretty fun, everyone was appreciative, people are asking what you need, dropping duplicates, someone just gave me a venator blueprint earlier today... i know my trust will come crashing down at some point, but until then... |

Surprisingly, I don’t think my squad or I have been extract camped yet. We’ve had a few squads follow us to extract and engage or engage us as we neared the elevator, but I personally don’t feel any of them have been legit campers yet. LOTS of sweats in squads, almost none in solos (a few, but pretty isolated). Had four solo raids last night that went great, overall. I ran into lots of friendly guys, shared a few items (including a rusted gear I probably should have kept lol), and extracted with them. So it really is a crap shoot as to what you’ll get, and that’s half the fun! |

Threw a snitch scanner at his feet. When he was fighting the Arc I hit him with the Anvil and broke his shield. Arc swooped in and downed his ass. I did a few raids this morning to get my friend the Leaper pulse units he needs for his one bench and to load up on sensors to build hatch keys. I quit after that because there was PVP going on everywhere. |

They take out Leapers fast and you will need to kill some Leapers later for their Pulse Units. Always use a Looting augment with a safe pocket if you can. Don't use a combat augment while your stockpiling stuff to upgrade your benches and Scrappy. Don't waste resources to build higher level guns. An Anvil pistol is plenty for Arc and other players. Just upgrade your Anvil. Stay on the Dam map for awhile and go in solo while starting out. The other maps and squad lobbies have way more PVP. If you find Rusted Gears hold onto them, you need them later to upgrade your bench. Best spots I've found for them on Dam is inside cars and buses. Also in the underground loading dock SE of Water Treatment. Always save any Seeds you find, use them every time you go on to buy as many Simple Gun Parts from Celeste the trader. Always have 5 Adrenaline Shots equipped if you can. Your stamina will suck in the beginning and you'll need them to run from threats. Anytime you find Sensors don't sell them, just save them for now in your stash. You can build Raider Hatch Keys with them once you get your utility bench to Level 2. Sensors can be found in Ruby Residences and Pale Apartments (Dog collar too which you will need) in the box on the roof Satellite dishes and in Thermostats and Remote controls you can find there. There's also a good room for Sensors next to the Water Treatment elevator. It's outside up top and has two doors. Little red circle in this pic. It also has Fried Motherboards which you will need later to upgrade your one bench. Benches I would upgrade first are Gunsmith, Utility, and Refiner. And finally, don't trust other players even if they say "Don't shoot" or "Friendly". Just acknowledge them and get away from them while you're starting out and building your stash. If you move slowly and do night raids it's easy to hear other players and avoid them. Most players make tons of noise running around all the time. If you stay away from the big main buildings you can still find plenty of loot for crafting or selling and you'll avoid a lot of PVP. https://i.imgur.com/6f3K20Y.jpg How should I spend my free 5000 coins? Increased stash slots? |
Stash size is what I’d use them for, but I’m a hoarder. I saved all kinds of crap at the start and VERY quickly ran out of space. I’ve since maxed my stash out (280 slots), and it’s still full right now lol. I’ve recently adopted the stance that there’s no true “end game” for AR, so what perpetuates the game is a) time with buddies, b) the rush of getting out with good loot, and c) the need to find stuff. I think I have two benches maxed out so I still have plenty I need to find, but now I only hoard items directly relating to what I’m working on next and I sell the rest or use them for crafting. My suggestions? The only things I’d really save are the rusted gears and lemons, as they’re pretty hard to find. Most other items I’d sell to upgrade your stash size for now and loot for the other items when you need them as it’ll give your time topside some purpose. |

The grove on buried city gets a few. Mushrooms are a PITA. I'm debating doing the expedition so I get more stash space. I'm a hoarder. |

I probably wouldn’t sell EVERYTHING lol. I meant more gray/green/blue items and basically all trinkets. I personally keep weapons/ammo/grenades/health items as they’re consumables for each raid, but I suppose running purely free loadouts and selling everything else would be a fast way to max out your stash capacity! Also “learn and consume” blueprints unless they have a checkmark (indicating you’ve learned them already). Selling them is foolish unless you have them already lol. But you’re eventually gonna find everything else a hundred times over in the course of playing anyway. |

Woe is me. It took me about 10 raids of searching cars to find 2. Still searching for number 3. Lush bloom for scrappy upgrades is the way to go. Once I got into one I was able to get all the lemons and apricots for all his upgrades in 2 raids. |

Ruby Residence is where I found the Wolfpack bp. Same, I actually found to Wolfpack BP in the same run in the apartments. I have spent way more time at the Dam than anywhere else. I still need to upgrade several stations and don't have that many blue prints but it is what it is. I kind of let my spawn dictate what kind of run I'm going to make. If I spawn by the appartments or testing annex it's going to be money run. North side is a damn run for parts, etc. I didn't realize till level 24 that you could upgrade your stash....... Always open the little space ship things, I forgot what they are called, but they have a chance at having the cores from pretty much all of the bigger arc, saves you from having to kill them. |

A good way is to hit the extract at North Complex Elevator. 4 buses to check for Rusted Gears and the Rusted Tools while you wait for the elevator. It might get a bit crowded with ARC but as long as you hit the elevator button you can usually make it out while downed. I did a bunch of runs on Dam where I looted the top Apt buildings, then hit the cacti for pear fruit for Scrappy upgrades then the buses. In and out. Go free loadout each time and sell all your gear AFTER turning in the free loadout backpack for a green augment for more $$. Easy and simple way to grab some loot without a lot of risk. |

Originally Posted By Hadrian: I'm level 2 and have upgraded my stash once. Should I just sell everything except rusted gears and lemons at this point? I think I'm just going to run the free loadout until I hit level 10 or so... The rhythm you probably want to get into is Free Loadout -> successful run (extract), convert for free to Loot lvl 1 via Lance at the Clinic (you can trade your free loadout box for the loot or combat one) -> continue until you die, then go back to Free Loadout until you extract again. This keeps you from needlessly wasting a bunch of good gear while keeping you with a bigger extract payload most of the time. The other thing that happens is upgrading your weapon from the Free Loadout to at least Lvl 3 once you extract, since this usually only requires base materials. Better weapons don't really help you stay alive much at the beginning, so taking them is risky. The upgraded versions of the basic stuff are pretty decent. The single shot rifle on Lvl 3 or Lvl 4 (reloads 2x as fast), coupled with a light ammo pistol or SMG (better for ground rolly ARC), is a cheap, and really effective set for most of the early game, in terms of dealing with basic ARC. You also don't really need weapon attachments. I often just attach these to current weapons when I find them so they don't take up more inventory space. There is also a balance between solo and group stuff. Group gives you a higher chance of getting resurrected when you go down, but also means you can be on someone else's program. |

For a list of stuff to keep vs sell/recycle these two lists are useful. The second one links to someones store page, but it's zero dollars. https://www.arcdb.site/ https://www.reddit.com/r/ArcRaiders/comments/1orrcag/oc_arc_raiders_loot_cheat_sheet_v2_keep_sell/ |

| Last night I went a different route. I've been going into night raids naked. The only thing I carry is a stack of stims. Whenever I load in, I sprint/stim to the nearest red zone. Loot till I get something worth putting into my prison pocket, then just die, or if I get a few things, put the best in the pocket and try to extract. I lost nothing and ended up with one new blue print after a few runs. Early on there aren't many hornets/wasps, but what is there just run fast. Pops, you learn to dive them so they blow up but don't kill you. I had some luck using my pick on fireballs, but normally the first loot spot or two you'll pickup a gun you can deal with them with. The only time I actually went to extract was when I got a bobcat out of a weapon crate since you can't put them in your pocket. It's also nice to know that when someone does kill you they get nothing, absolutely nothing. |
