Is there anywhere online to get a value on a guitar?? I'm thinking about selling one of my Jackson's, but I have no idea what it's worth. No way I'm taking it to Guitar Center, I see they have ads on the socials wanting to buy gear, but I can guarantee a low ball offer at best. So, I need somewhere to get an idea of what it would go for in the real world. |

Well, that led me down a rabbit hole of information. I found a serial number decoder, and it turns out my Jackson was built in 1990, it a Japanese model, and worth more than I paid for it. I thought it was a lot newer than that, I bought it in 2003-2006 era. Being it's in near mint condition with the case, I'm not sure what to ask for, or if I even want to sell it now!! |

The true value of a guitar is what someone is willing to pay for it, so searching Reverb's Sold listings will get you in the right ball park. From there, it all comes down to whether there is someone out there who wants what you have at the price you are asking. You also have to remember that you can list it at the price that similar guitars have sold for in the past, but if no one is looking for that right now, it can sit for a while. I am currently selling a bunch of gear at basically the going rate, but seeing as I am getting no buyers, it really isn't worth that to anyone right now. I am not desperate, so it just sits there for sale, but be aware that it can be a while. |
