I guess they’ve been out for close to a year, but I just discovered this line of SOLAR 41mm divers. Finally everything comes together for solar dive watch fans. Size, quality, reliability and style. My edc work/beater has been the JDM variety of their 39mm?(smallest version). I love it. Sometimes I think i could be happy with only that watch as its just a nice simple piece that would probably work on most any occasion. I did hear they may be discontinuing that line all together though if I recall correctly. |

Nice watch though. It’s funny how just one mm makes such a visual difference. I feel like my stealth Vaer 42.5 (?) watch is right on the cusp of feeling too large. My San Martin 62 MAS knockoff feels about perfect at 39.5 mm. The Vaer might go down the road if I order this Seiko. Just too similar. Attached File |

I hear you though, as of recently I've been rocking the hell out of my bigger dials. Namely a homebrew titanium SKX173.  The lack of/poorly applied AR coating on the solar series of Seikos is kind of disheartening, but in real life and in use I really don't notice it all that much. Obviously in the picture it looks pretty bad, but to be fair the "SKX" has a decent AR coated saphire. As an aside, I have noticed i prefer wearing the smaller dials much higher up on my wrist. Where as with my larger dials I tend to let them drape a bit, ala 90's/old man dgaf style. |

@konger I just bought one of those one month ago and I absolutely love it; my other watches have been neglected and left spinning on their auto winders ever since then. The dark finish on it reminds me of the heavy black chrome finish on the exhaust pipes of one of my old motorcycles. I bought my Seiko Prospex SNE599 for $476.00 from Long Island Watch. I may have to bite the bullet. @konger I have not noticed a problem with the crystal and lack of anti-reflective coatings. It is a flat crystal so I suppose it might be difficult to see at rare moments if you had one eye closed but if you twist your wrist 1/16th of an inch it would no longer be a problem, i.e., no, it is not a problem. |
