Limited Black 9.2R. Plumbers neck, cleaner alignment line, and softened edges like Scotty has been offering on the Circle Ts. I’ve been keeping an eye out for a good deal. Do you put the others in a rotation or do you sell them? I’ve been thinking about trying something else but know it will be a slippery slope to me having 10 and rotating them rather than sticking with one Edit: slick looking putter |

Current gamer is the Spider Tour X Proto with the milled face. Taylormade originally designed it for Scheffler when they were trying to get him away from his Scotty blade. He eventually switched to the standard insert model. I also have that and putt well with it, but I don’t like the way it feels. Attached File Attached File |

I have about 14 putters now. And I rotate them. Sometimes they come out smoking and I make putts and my opponents weep in frustration. But inevitably they revert to suckage and I have to throw them back in the garage and take another one out that hopefully learned it's lesson and starts working. |

I have had a spider for a couple of years now. This year I switched to the standard golf pride tour only grip and went away from the super stroke grip. Increased the shaft length to 35". The damned super stroke give me no feel in my hands. I play mostly on courses that have stimp from 10.5 to 12 Also have changed to a claw grip for putts inside 40 feet, and standard reverse overlap grip for putts outside that. I think the claw grip helps get it started on the line, but I have problems with speed using it on longer putts. Another change for me is when I practice, I practice from 6 feet and 40 feet. I figure I can make 50% of the ones from six, and just don't want to three putt from 40. It is fun to roll them in from 15 feet, but how many of those do you have during a round as opposed to 6 feet and 40 feet? I think a lot of putting from outside 10-12 feet is luck, so why spend time on it? 3 putts for me dropped by a lot this year after making those changes. I can't say that I make a bunch more 12 footers, but I just don't three putt as much now. I'm not sure if it was the equipment change or the practice regimen change. Works for me. |

When you 3 putt, what is more often the cause of the first putt not being close? I bet it was hit too hard/soft as opposed to mis-reading the break by 5 feet. My son switched to a LAB putter for high school season this fall. Yes it is ugly but he got over that quick the first match of the year when he shot -2 and won the invitational. |

A bit of a sloppy round but plenty of good stuff. I like the new putter, especially considering I didn’t have time to adjust the lie angle or head weight. Attached File |

The only one I’ve done is a Trackman fitting at Cool Clubs in Scottsdale. I honestly didn’t get much out of it. I have a good enough idea of what works for me now that I have the most success with trial and error. The 29 putts I had today included 3 missed inside 5 feet. I’m pretty certain it’s because the head weight is too heavy. Both of my Spiders have lighter weights in them. Amazon is dropping off lighter weights any minute and I’ll get it bent a couple degrees upright tomorrow. I love the setup, alignment, and feel so I hope I can get it dialed in. |

You got to love your putter, believe in your putter, and trust your line... but it is tough to be at 250% all the time

Rolled a LAB in store but really didn’t like how it felt off the face. |

| I went by my local PGA Superstore the other day and tried out a L.A.B. Golf OZ.1 putter (35" with the 2 degree grip) without the steel insert. On their indoor putting green I was making 30 footers to the point where it almost felt like I was cheating. Six feet and in was easy. I could not believe the difference from my Spider. The thing was $486 with tax and I'm seriously considering it. Wish I could find it for less. |

Helps sell putters But I had the same experience with that same putter and made it my gamer. Someone tested it and of the dozen or so putters tested and, regardless of player handicap it had the higher rating of putts starting on line. They put them on sale quite a bit especially since the one with the steel insert came out. I paid $325 for mine back in July. Also they are still fairly rare in the wild so I get asked a lot from people to try it. |

But they have laser lights on the green showing the lines and if you put it on the line the right pace they go in. |

I went back to the Superstore again today because I had a free putter fitting. It was quite interesting. I tried the Spider I have now, the LAB and the new center shafted Taylor Made. I trust the guy doing the fitting as I have done a lot of business with him and according to the computerized stroke analysis tool I'm lining up to the right, taking the putter outside the intended line then slicing it. Also had the ball too far forward in my stance and the lie angle was too flat. What a complete mess. The stroke analyzer was pretty neat. We bent the putter more upright by a degree or so then the fitting turned into a putting lesson. I'm going to put the ball back in my stance about an inch, use the shoulders more and take the hands out of it, do a very subtle forward press, improve the takeaway and go more on a slight arc. I'm going to hold off on buying a new one for now and work on correcting the setup & stroke issues. Although I really like the LAB, I think the problem is me and not the equipment. |
