I have a Galaxy S21, and I'm trying to put a few pictures in the Samsung Documents folder, and not have them show up in the gallery. I've searched for how to do it, which all came to making/adding a .nomedia folder to the Documents folder, but that doesn't work. Is there a simple, not too techy way to do this? |
| Its usually a .nomedia file into the folder you dont want scanned. You can find examples of this in the /sdcard/*/.thumbnails/ directories. It creates thumbnails for movies, music, etc and uses the .nomedia file as a flag to keep the media scanner from adding anything in that directory to the gallery. |

I haven't seen that, and I'm not techy enough to find that path posted above. I'll keep trying to find another way to do this. I took pics of my CCW permit, DNR, tax stamp, and handicap placard documents, so that I'd have them on my phone. The pics were taken on different days, so they're mixed in with my pics, and I don't want to do new ones because that'll put them at the top. |

I have NEVER had a stock file manager on an Android device I didn't HATE. They are all crap for one reason or another, usually several. I have hundreds of books with cover art and hundreds of albums with album art on my tablets and phones as well as a copy of our photos folder (I use my phone as a sort of off site backup of stuff I REALLY don't want to lose). You can imagine trying to find a particular photo with the way stock file managers jumble everything in images. I have been using this for years and it works. You can make folders and put your stuff where YOU want like Windows file manager. It may not be important to some but it also does networking on my home network great and plays video and music built in. What about when you are viewing a picture, is there an "add to/send to" or do the 3 dot menu options change? In mine you can only send them 1 photo at a time not a multi selection or entire album. Also it looks like you have the font really zoomed in, is that list scrollable or see if some options aren't visible unless its regular small size.
