| Full story is definitely TLDR. I’m an RN of 24 years, been with the same organization (very large / multi-billion dollar organization). I injured my back in an unsafe situation that I reported 3x : no response. Then literally the day after I made the third report, I further injured my back in a similar situation. I reported this, sent to urgent care (organization determined which one), and that provider said I have nerve root compression symptoms and need immediate MRI and potentially emergency surgery. I was subsequently ignored for the following several days, no further treatment or testing approved. I retained counsel, now they’re still dragging their feet wanting a recorded interview that they’re not scheduling for some reason (I’ve got nothing but time). My symptoms are getting worse. I’m going to go to the ER in early AM and ask to get a cash discount for an MRI and not run insurance. I know they will not pay for it because it isn’t one of their facilities. My question is are they liable if my injury is such that more immediate treatment would have prevented permanent damage? My PCP ordered me high dose steroids (I paid for this care on my own as well ) to help protect my spinal cord, but he said I need to be in a hospital getting scans (I’m stubborn). I’m the sole provider for my household and this scares me. Anyone else gone through something like this or know someone that has that can help me understand what I’m up against with this whole situation / process? Thanks so much for any insight. |

I'm 30 years into the same situation you describe. The state of Washington decided I was fit for duty. This should be a disability claim for me. I just spent a full week unable to move. Why? Because I put on my fucking socks. 30 years ago, I moved car batteries for the State of Washington and injured my L5/S1 joint. I probably will need spinal fusion in the next decade. |

| Not a lawyer but having dealt with Federal work comp I'd avoid any unnecessary delay and focus on getting treated, insurance coverage is a lesser priority. Delayed treatment is a feature of workmans comp and not a bug. |
