Do you judge an adult male if he doesn't own one? I'm 48 and haven't owned one ever in my adult life. Had a conversation with an older friend recently and he kinda hurt my feelings unintentionally. He asked me if I even owned a tie. Khaki pants and a polo shirt are as dressy as I get. |

I used to own a few cheap suits when I was younger. I'm nearly 50 and haven't owned a suit in probably 26 years. I do own a few dress shirts and a couple of ties should the need arise I have to dress up. But those days are few and far between. Hell, I wore an Avengers t-shirt to work yesterday. |

I don't own a suit, sport coat, dress shirt or tie. I took early retirement in 2018. I don't have to play dress up anymore. |

A man should be prepared for all eventualities. Even if he hasn't done a lick of manual labor in decades, he should still own a couple sets of work clothes. And even if he's never needed a suit, he should still own one. |
Don't piss off old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

I’m 54 and have had two, lost them in a house fire a few years back. It’s only a problem for funerals. |

I had dress clothes back around 2000 when I did sales. Got out of that around '08 and got rid of all the clothes. If someone doesn't want me at a particular gathering because of what I'm wearing they can tell me to leave, and I will. I have not experienced the above since I got rid of my dress clothes. |

I wouldn't "judge" anyone if they didn't own a suit, but I'd be kinda surprised by an adult male who didn't have at least a sport coat and a tie in his closet. Now I'll wait for the "muh flipflops and shorts..." responses from the more sartorially challenged GD'rs.

I have owned many suits over the years. No longer own any. I still have one tie, but it has a big red chinese dragon embroidered on it so it doesn't really count as far as formal ties go. I wouldn't judge a man based on what clothing he chooses to own and wear. But then again I try not to judge people based on outward appearance. And somewhat ironically I say that somewhat awkwardly as I just got back from getting poor mans take out pizza wearing a gold rolex and suppressed 9mm, hawaiian flower shirt and slacks LoL. There's plenty of judgement left over for peoples actions and behavior. No need to judge based on looks. |

Last funeral I attended was almost all co-workers. Technicians who wear 511 pants and a polo at work. About half including myself wore a suit to the funeral. The rest were wearing everything from jeans to one of their work uniforms. I was not at all surprised who fell into which category. The former military and LE guys all had on suits. |

I don't judge someone who doesn't own a suit, but I do wonder what those guys do for funeral and wedding attire. Do they do rentals, or do they own slacks and a button up, or just rock their everyday clothes? I do, however, judge people who wear pajamas and/or house slippers in public. |
